Higher performance at lower cost with latest booster
Vincotech has announced the launch of a new line of modules called flowBOOST 1 symmetric. Engineered to deliver top switching frequencies (up to 50 kHz), these modules are able to provide a symmetric boost in 1300 V or a buck boost in 650 V applications. They also enable to use smaller and even lighter passive power components to decrease system sizes.
Reinforced solder preforms at PCIM Europe 2017
Indium Corporation has said it will feature InFORMS, its reinforced solder alloy fabrications, at PCIM Europe (May 16-18) in Nuremberg.InFORMS are a composite preform consisting of solder and a reinforcing matrix that, together, increase lateral strength and bondline co-planarity while improving thermal cycling reliability.
High-performance DC switching made easy
Eaton is ensuring reliable control of frequent DC switching with the introduction of its DILDC300/600 range of hybrid contactors. Compact and dependable, the power management company’s contactors support loads of 300 to 600 A at up to 1,000 VDC.Conventional contactors all require maintenance after approximately 10,000 to 25,000 electrical operations. However, Eaton’s DILDC contactors require no maintenance and provide an operating lif...
Wolfspeed extends SiC Schottky diode portfolio
Wolfspeed has added four new SiC Schottky diodes to its portfolio, further extending what was already recognised as the industry’s most comprehensive offering. Developed in response to both individual customer requests and the power supply industry’s continuous demand for components with larger nominal current ratings, the new 650V and 1200V Cree Z-Rec SiC Schottky diodes enable high efficiency power conversion systems with improved r...
DC/DC converter series features very low isolation capacitance
Aimtec announces a 2 W seriesDC/DC converter, the AM2M-NZ, and also broadens their existing 1 W series, the AM1M-NZ, with the addition of new models. These new converters feature output voltages with 1500 or 3000VDC input to output isolation tested over a 60 second cycle during manufacturing. Both series are designed particularly with very low Isolation capacitance and supports a wide variety of input voltages of 3.3, 5, 9, 12, 15 and 24VDC conve...
Cooperating subsystems drive the car of the future
Controlled by a computer that is able to not only monitor what is happening inside the vehicle but the driving environment around and in front of it, the car of the future will be a fusion of electronic senses. And what it learns will influence much more than the car’s steering. By Simon Duggleby, Technical Marketing Manager, Electronics, RS Components.
Compressible TIM guarantees thermal stability up to 400°C
A highly-compressible Thermal Interface Material (TIM) has been launched by Panasonic Automotive & Industrial Systems Europe which aims to reduce contact thermal resistance between rough surfaces in thin spaces. Soft-PGS enhances the thermal coupling between heat producing devices (heat sources) and heat dissipation devices (heat sinks).

Patented technology improves IGBT performance; reduces power loss
The first device in the 650V H2-series IGBT family has been announced by Alpha & Omega Semiconductor. It is optimised for high speed switching performance.
3D solutions aid silicon power transistors
Tokyo Tech researchers demonstrate operation energy-savings in a low price silicon power transistor structure by scaling down in all three dimensions. In electronics, lower power consumption leads to operation cost savings, environmental benefits and the convenience advantages from longer running devices. While progress in energy efficiencies has been reported with alternative materials such as SiC and GaN, energy-savings in the standard inexpensi...
