Nihon Superior at NEPCON Japan
Nihon Superior Co. Ltd will exhibit at NEPCON Japan, scheduled to take place Jan 13-15, 2016 at the Tokyo Big Site. During the show, the company will showcase newly developed products that offer improvements in reliability, thermally stable joining, and lead-free die attach.
DrMOS power stages are optimised for mobile platforms
Vishay Intertechnology has introduced five VRPower integrated DrMOS power stage solutions for multiphase PoL regulator applications in next-gen notebooks, ultrabooks and desktops. The devices combine power MOSFETs, an advanced MOSFET gate driver IC and a bootstrap Schottky diode in thermally enhanced 4.5x3.5mm PowerPAK MLP4535-22L (SiC530CD, SiC531CD & SiC532CD) and 5x5mm PowerPAK MLP55-31L (SiC631CD & SiC632CD) packages.
High-power SiC module suits solar & industrial applications
ROHMhas announced the development of a 1200V/300A full SiC power module designed for inverters and converters in solar power conditioners and industrial equipment. The 300A rated current makes theBSM300D12P2E001suitable for high power applications such as large-capacity power supplies for industrial equipment.
IR Video Shows Massive Californian Gas Leak
A recent online article by NBC Los Angeles reports how a FLIR Systems GF320 optical gas imaging camera has made visible the Aliso Canyon leak from Southern California Gas (Sempra) natural gas storage field that threatens the Porter Ranch community in Los Angeles County.
VR rollercoaster ready for launch at Alton Towers
Last year was something of an annus horribilis for Staffordshire-based theme park Alton Towers after ‘human error’ caused an accident on the park’s Smile ride which left five people with serious injuries. However, while the Smile ride remains closed, the park is looking ahead to the opening of a new attraction in 2016, with its new Galactica ride set to launch in April after two years of planning.
X-REL semiconductor 2015 summary
X-REL Semiconductor, the innovation leader in extended lifetime, high-temperature and high-reliability semiconductors, finishes the year 2015 having introduced eight new products targeting highly demanding markets such as aerospace, industrial, hybrid and electric vehicles, transportation, geothermal and oil & gas.
SICK TriSpector 1000 Delivers Real Plug-and-Play 3D Vision Sensing
SICK has launched its first ‘plug-and-play’ 3D vision sensor in the UK, the TriSpector 1000, delivering real-time 3D quality inspection in a self-contained unit that is simple to install and use.
Superjunction principle drives MOSFET family
A new 650V X2-Class MOSFET family with current ratings from 2A to 120A and an RDS(on) as low as 24mOhm has been released by distributor MSC Technologies. This new part family is using the superjunction principle (charge compensation technique), where implanted p-zones in the vertical n-drift region are used to decrease the on-resistance.
Increased energy saving in industrial applications
ROHM’s recently announced AC/DC converter control IC, designed specifically for SiC MOSFETs in industrial equipment such as servers and other large power applications, was showcased at SPS IPC Drives. The BD7682FJ-LB allows the easy implementation of SiC-MOSFETs to an AC/DC converter which has proved challenging when using discrete configurations due to the large number of components required.
SoC supports digital & analogue position sensors
Expanding the company's C2000 Delfino MCU portfolio, Texas Instruments has introduced what is claimed to be the industry’s first on-chip solution supporting both analogue and digital position sensors. The TMS320F28379D and TMS320F28379S MCUs, when combined with DesignDRIVE Position Manager technology, enable simple interfacing to position sensors.
