Hi-Rel industries shift to jackscrew fixings for connection security
Harwin has announced that several industries - satellites, robotics, motor sport – are now preferring to specify the company’s 2mm pitch Datamate family of high reliability connectors with jackscrews, rather than latches or other fixing mechanisms, to ensure secure connection. As well as guaranteeing connector retention and signal integrity, the J-Tek jackscrew fixing is also being used to connect PCBs together in innovative configura...
Harwin to sponsor Purdue Electric Racing
Harwin is proud to announce that it is to sponsor the Purdue Electric Racing (PER) team’s 2016 Electric Race Car which will compete in next year’s Formula Student/ SAE Electric championship. Formula SAE is designed to promote careers and excellence in engineering and encompasses all aspects of the automotive industry including research, design, manufacturing, testing, developing, marketing, management and finances.
Harwin installs ‘ambitious’ Gecko connector assembly machine
In partnership with Festo, Harwin has designed and installed its largest ever assembly line to meet the sales demand for its Gecko 1.25mm pitch high reliability connector family. By utilising Festo’s products throughout the machine design, compatibility issues that sometimes arise when using conflicting hardware were removed.
Horizontal connectors reduce PCB stacking height
Harwin has introduced a horizontal version of its 1.25mm pitch high-reliability Gecko connector, reducing the stacking height of PCBs to just 5.6mm. Available in the standard eight positions - 6, 10, 12, 16, 20, 26, 34 and 50 – the new style also facilitates mother & daughter board configurations.
Expanded connector range features 4.5 to 1.1mm profiles
Extending the company's popular Spring Contact Connector range, Harwin has introduced thirteen models offering design engineers more options to select the best design for each application. The new range includes extended C and Positive Stop models in nine heights, ranging from 4.5 to 1.1mm above board level, enabling smaller, lighter, low-profile PCB designs.
Harwin breaks ground on UK manufacturing facility
Increasing floor space by 33% for increased automation and R&D facilities, Harwin has broken ground on a major new extension at its Portsmouth headquarters and manufacturing centre.
Jumper Links comprise contact clips & removable linking bars
Harwin has developed a new means of connecting LED arrays together quickly, simply and effectively removing any need for post-assembly soldering operations and facilitating rework. Part of the company’s EZ-Boardware range of PCB hardware solutions, the EZ-Removeable Jumper Links comprise contact clips and removable linking bars.
A reliable coax connection even in challenging environments
Harwin announces a range of standard layout, multiport coaxial Datamate connectors with 6GHz, 50Ω contacts, suitable for RG178 cables in high reliability applications. The ganged connectors are available from stock with two, four, six or eight contacts.
IDC connectors expand Harwin's 1.27mm pitch family
Harwin is expanding its’ popular 1.27mm pitch Archer M50 portfolio with the addition of new IDC connectors. The Archer family is distinguished in three ways: price, parts are several percentage points more cost-effective than the competition; instant availability, devices are stocked in depth for immediate dispatch at Harwin and its distribution channel; and reliability and high quality.
Proven performance for aerospace applications including satellites
Harwin is showcasing two new interconnect products for the first time at the world’s largest defence exhibition, DSEI. Visitors to the Harwin stand S4-166 can see Harwin’s Datamate coaxial connector and also have a preview of the forthcoming M300 10-position high density power connector series to be launched at the beginning of October.
Low-profile clips offer cost-effective RFI shielding
Harwin has expanded its popular EZ-Boardware range with the introduction of three RFI Shield Clips, suitable for small and low profile shield cans with wall thicknesses of between 0.15 and 0.20mm. These additions include two clips of only 3.9mm length (S0941-46R and S0951-46R), allowing users to fix smaller sized cans to the PCB using this cost effective method.
RFI shield clips simplify miniature EMC screening
Expanding its popular EZBoardware range, Harwin has announced three RFI Shield Clips suitable for small and low profile shield cans with wall thicknesses of 0.15 to 1.0mm. These additions include two clips of only 3.9mm length, allowing users to fix smaller sized cans to the PCB using this cost effective method.
Harwin showcase Mil-Aero connectors at Paris Air Show
Exhibiting on Stand FG176 in Hall 2B at the Paris Air Show, Le Bourget, 15th to 21st June, Harwin will demonstrate its Mil-Aero connectors and Datamate, Gecko and M300 high-reliability connector systems which withstand the severe shock, vibration and temperature conditions experienced in satellites, commercial and military aircraft, UAVs and spacecraft.
Test points address declining PCB space issues
Addressing increasing demand for more functionality in ever decreasing PCB space, such as in hand held devices, Harwin has expanded its EZBoardWare portfolio with small and low profile versions of surface mount Test Points. The two Test Points are designed to match the 2012 and 1608 metric (0805 and 0603 imperial) electronic package sizes, whilst providing secure connection points and allowing test engineers to clip on industry standard micr...
Satellite successfully launches into space
Following the successful launch of WUSAT-2 satellite earlier this month, Harwin is delighted to congratulate Warwick University. The student-run project, which built and launched a small 10x10x10cm CubeSat satellite into space, relies on high-reliability, miniature connectors from Harwin to provide the vital interconnect used in experimental equipment carried by the satellite.
Speedy samples of versatile connector range offered
Harwin has announced a quick turn around sample service on its Archer range of 1.27mm pitch M50 and M52 fine pitch board-to-board and cable-to-board connectors which are available on tape and reel packaging for easy PCB assembly.
