Key considerations when selecting a connector solution
The electronics industry never stands still - trends develop and change, technologies emerge and improve and new applications bring new requirements and challenges. While this understandably has an impact on the electronics, it also has a significant impact on connector technology needed to support it.
Highly optimised connector addresses space issues on PCBs
Continuing to extend the breadth of its interconnect solutions, Harwin has announced the latest addition to the M40 series. With phosphor bronze contacts that are rated for currents of up to 1A, these lightweight, low profile 1mm pitch units are the smallest in the company’s portfolio of cable-to-board connectors. They have been developed specifically to attend to the needs of modern electronic designs, where densely populated PCBs are...
Assent Compliance assists in assuring supply chain integrity
In order to further strengthen its CSR and ensure that all due diligence measures are taken when sourcing raw materials, Harwin has appointed Ottawa-based regulatory software and services firm Assent Compliance. The team at Assent will be assisting with Harwin’s ongoing activities relating to materials legislation/restrictions and other global directives.
High density connectors meet industrial environment demands
The new Archer Kontrol family of board-to-board connectors from Harwin present design engineers with highly robust, as well as flexible, interconnect solutions that address a broad spectrum of different industrial tasks. Covering 12-80 contact pin formats, these compact 1.27mm pitch connectors have a current rating of 1.2A per contact.
Pitch connectors support elevated currents of 8.5A
A new female contact for its Datamate connectors that enables significant increases in power delivery levels to be realised has been introduced by Harwin. Utilising a proprietary six-finger design which is machined from a single piece of beryllium copper, the T-Contact raises the current capacity on compact 2mm pitch interconnection systems, with up to 8.5A per contact being supported.
Metal backshells ensure ongoing electrical integrity
Hi-rel connector manufacturer Harwin now supplies a comprehensive range of backshells with a rugged aluminium alloy construction and electroless nickel plating, in order to complement its widely-used Datamate wire-to-board connector offering. Through these accessories, which can be applied to new installations or alternatively for carrying out mid production modifications, engineers are able to add increased levels of mechanical robustness, ...
Rugged 50Ω connectors for high density RF electronics systems
Designed for implementation in harsh application environments, Harwin has added new interconnect solutions to its flagship Datamate high reliability connector (Hi-Rel) product family. With the objective of addressing space-constrained RF/wireless designs, each member of the Datamate Coax series comprises multiple (ganged) coaxial contacts in a compact housing.
Harwin extends micro signal high-reliability connector range
Following strong customer uptake of its initial release of the high-reliability Gecko Screw-Lok 1.25mm pitch connector, Harwin has now doubled the range, with four new pin count sizes complementing the existing product options. The company, who specialises in manufacturing interconnect solutions capable of meeting the most challenging of application demands, has announced the addition of 20, 26, 34 and 50-contact connectors.
Durable surface-mount socket for advanced automated assembly
Hi-rel connector and SMT board hardware manufacturer, Harwin, has announced its new SYCAMORE surface-mount socket which provides what it claims to be superior pin retention and durability for high-volume applications manufactured using advanced automated systems. SYCAMORE’s design features three points of contact, providing the assurance of continuity and robustness previously only available from two-piece assemblies which are rarely availa...
Increased investment wins new business in space sector
Hi-rel connector and SMT board hardware manufacturer, Harwin, has announced that increased investment in its Salem, New Hampshire cable assembly facility is winning new business in the demanding and highly specialised space and avionics sector. At its US site, Harwin’s cabling capabilities include building to customer datasheet, prototyping, and electrical and mechanical testing of both cable and wire harnesses and coaxial cable assemblies.
Harwin and Festo team up to make better connections
The family owned, British manufacturer Harwin, produces high quality connectors for electronic applications. When the company was investing in a new production line for its premium Gecko range, Harwin chose Festo technology to deliver the high levels of automation and flexibility it needed.
In-house manufacturing shaping the future for UK company
A privately owned family business, Harwin, was founded back in 1952 by Patrick De Lazlo and his family. Now his son Damon is the CEO of the connectors company, and this year Harwin has been awarded EN 9100 certification. The high reliability (Hi-Rel) connector manufacturer has demonstrated a commitment to the aerospace industry which has been recognised through its supply chain excellence.
Made (right) Here (right) Now
The UK-wide initiative to encourage more young people into manufacturing as a career, Made Here Now, is celebrating a major milestone with the launch of a new website at MadeHereNow.com, containing inspirational videos, success stories and photography.
Winning website delivers technically and visually
Receiving a double accolade in the 11th Annual W3 Awards for its new website, Harwin re-designed its site at the end of last year. The W3 Awards honour creative excellence on the web, and recognises companies and their creative and marketing minds behind websites, online marketing, mobile sites and apps, web video and social media.
Connector range extensions mean more choice with design
Extending the number of models available, Harwin has added to its Industry Standard Connector ranges, including the Archer M50 (1.27mm pitch), M22 (2mm pitch) and M20 (2.54mm pitch) interconnects.
Smaller and lighter connectors for harsh environments
There was an evolution of Harwin’s Gecko 1.25mm pitch connector series on show at the recent electronica exhibition in Munich. The Gecko (G125 series) connectors are low profile, dual row cable-to-board and board-to-board interconnects which save PCB real estate and weight in high reliability applications. Developed to meet customer demand, the new Gecko Screw-Lok Series features ruggedised screw fixings for increased security and can ...
