Workbench helps Adidas develop athlete monitor
IAR Systems has announced that Adidas has selected IAR Systems’ software tools for development of its miCoach Elite Team System, designed for monitoring personal physiological data in real time. For several years, Adidas has been using the development toolchain IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM in different development projects because of its ease of use and high performance.
32-bit MCUs provide 240MHz for real time operation
Doubling CPU operating frequency from 120 to 240MHz, Renesas has extended its RX Family of 32-bit MCUs with the RX71M Group. Developed for use in industrial equipment and described by Renesas as the ‘flagship’ product of the series, the group is available with up to 4MB of on-chip flash memory.
Embedded MCU developer combines flexibility & versatility
EMBAS will exhibit itscompetence in the area of MCU-based embedded applications, in stand 520C, hall 4A, at embedded world, scheduled for 24thto 26thFebruary 2015, Nuremberg, Germany. The company is developing automotive and industrial data communication solutions with increasing focus on secure communication, andlow voltage power management solutions for battery charging, control, power distribution and intelligent power management.
MCUs offer industry's lowest power consumption at 1MHz
Claimed to realise the industry’s lowest power consumption at 1MHz, Renesas Electronics has announced the RL78/I1D MCUs. Integrating analogue functions for various sensing applications, the MCUs are optimised for detectors that sense minute variations in the output of sensors used to monitor for smoke, gas and motion or vibrations.
Dev Kit now supports AVB and CAN-FD network peripherals
The Virtualizer Dev Kit (VDK), developed by Synopsys, now supports Ethernet AVB and CAN-FD automotive network peripherals. Designed for Renesas' RH850 MCU family, the VDK is a software development kit that uses RH850 virtual prototypes as a target with software debug and analysis tools.
C compiler introduced for GTM-IP MCS from Bosch
Altium has announced a new C compiler for the Generic Timer Module (GTM-IP MCS) from the Robert Bosch.
Bringing communications to the factory floor
Communication continues to grow rapidly in the field of industrial and factory automation, as manufacturers seek to improve the capability, efficiency and flexibility of their systems and infrastructure. By Knut Dettmer, Principal Engineer, Smart Factory Marketing, Renesas Electronics Europe.
In the driving seat
The use of MCUs in automotive applications is growing, but Steve Rogerson found there were differences in how the chip makers see the market evolving.
Development board is based on 32-bit processor
Vekatech’s new development board VK-RZ/A1H with the embedded microprocessor RZ/A1H from Renesas with an ARM Cortex-A9 is available at Rutronik24.com. The embedded microprocessor RZ/A1H runs at up to 400MHz clock speed and integrates up to 10MB of on-chip RAM, OpenVG compatible graphics accelerator, dual LCD-drivers and camera inputs.
Integrated run-time software now supports Atmel, ST & TI
Introduced with support for the Renesas RZ/A1-based RSK board, Express Logic has expanded its support for the X-Ware Platform to include boards from Atmel, STMicroelectronics and Texas Instruments. The target-specific, integrated run-time software combines all X-Ware components (ThreadX, NetX, USBX, FileX, GUIX and TraceX) pre-ported and fully integrated for use on specific development boards.
