Wireless-industry scientific papers to be presented at conference
At this year’s International Solid State Circuits Conference, imec and Holst Centre will present eight scientific papers covering results on ultra-low power design for wireless broadband communication, wireless sensor networks and organic electronics. Executives and scientists from imec and Holst Centre are prominently present as technology experts throughout the conference’s forums, evening sessions and panels, and as session chairs.
Imaginative technologies showcased at CES 2015
Imagination Technologiesreports that an impressively broad range of products at the recent International CES 2015 incorporated one or more of its technologies, reflecting a growing recognition of Imagination’s higher quality graphics, audio and video; high-performance and highly-efficient processing; and on-chip connectivity.
Beer and chocolates on offer at Embedded World
SILICA will be focussing on connectivity and automation and will be hosting seven demonstrations at Embedded World 2015 in Nuremberg (Feb 24-26) dismissing the norm of glass case displays and wall-mounted videos. So visitors will be able to watch the Maxim beer mug factory (though no mention of whether beer is included) and a chance to order different chocolates via NFC tags.
Verdi debug solution passes 100 app milestone
Synopsys has revealed that more than 100 debug and analysis apps have been developed through the VC Apps open interfaces. Offering access to additional debug and analysis capabilities for all Verdi users, the apps are available through the Verdi VC Apps ToolBox and the VC Apps Exchange website.
SRAM devices suppress soft error occurrences
SRAM memory devices, which have a density of 8Mb, have been released by Renesas Electronics Europe. Expanding the company’s RMLV0816B and RMLV0808B series of Advanced Low-Power SRAM (Advanced LP SRAM), the devices utilise a fine fabrication process technology with a circuit linewidth of 110nm.
Can embedded MCUs handle the latest PROFINET spec?
Under Version 2.3 of the PROFINET specification, passing the load test (Net load Test) has become mandatory for certification. Are embedded MCUs up to the job? By Marcus Tangermann, port, & Bernd Westhoff, Renesas Electronics Europe.
MCUs expand use of touch key in healthcare applications
Expanding the use of touch key in healthcare, building automation and home appliance applications, Renesas Electronics has introduced the RX113 groupof MCUs. Enabling significantly reduced power, size, and development costs for entry-level devices in these markets, the MCUs offer a single-chip solution with touch sensor IP and low-power technologies.
Timing closure & signoff reduces required ECO iterations
Enabling over 50 successful tapeouts in the nine months since it became generally available, Synopsys' PrimeTime ADV advanced timing closure and signoff solution has been adopted by more than 70 leading semiconductor companies. According to Synopsys, the key to its adoption is ease of integration into existing timing closure flows, fast turnaround time and the ability to reduce timing Engineering Change Order (ECO) iterations on designs.
Processor-based solution delivers factory production boost
To meet the increased demand for productivity in factories, Renesas has launched the RZ/T1 Group, a new factory automation solution with built-in industrial network functionality for use in many industrial applications such as AC servo drives, motion controllers, inverter control and general industrial equipment that require high speed, responsiveness, and excellent real-time performance.
Place & route solution enables ten times design throughput
A place and route solution, suitable for both existing and new node technology, has been released by Synopsys. The IC Compiler II, which succeeds the company’s IC Compiler, provides multi-objective concurrent clock and data for pre and post route optimisation, advanced low power optimisation techniques, electro-migration analysis, transparent interface optimisation and support for 10nm process technology.
