GNSS antenna offers accurate-everywhere positioning
Antenova has announced a low-profile embedded GNSS antenna, named Sinica, which operates on the 1559-1609MHz satellite bands. Sinica is suitable for all positioning applications on the 1559-1609MHz bands. It operates with all of the public satellite constellations - GPS, GLONASS, Baidou and Gallileo, which means it can provide accurate positioning combined with global coverage.
Multi-satellite module aids global positioning implementation
More online services than ever are based on location awareness being integrated into M2M systems and other IoT devices. The tiny CAM-M8 module from u-blox available at Alpha Micro Components offers a quick and easy way to add reliable global positioning in these applications. It offers the option of concurrent operation with any two of the three main satellite-positioning systems currently in operation - GPS, GLONASS and BeiDou - to provide accur...
Record-&-playback & RT simulation in one RF tool
Averna has announced the industry’s first RF tool offering high-performance record-and-playback and real-time simulation in one cost-effective platform. The Averna RP-6100 Series is a self-contained, record-and-playback solution for RF application validation. It can capture all GNSS bands, as well as HD Radio, WiFi, LTE, radar and cognitive radio, to significantly advance RF projects and harden product designs.
Integrated device-cloud architecture for the IoT
Designed to reduce system complexity and accelerate the development of connected products and applications for the IoT, the AirPrime WP series of smart wireless modules has been released by Sierra Wireless.
Maintenance-free box computer is IP65 rated
A rugged, maintenance-free box computer designed for data acquisition has been released by MEN Mikro Elektronik GmbH. The BC50R, which is IP65 rated, features USB, digital input and output, GigE, CAN and legacy serial I/Os implemented on rugged M12 connectors.
Display audio solution meets complex infotainment needs
A pre-packaged display audio solution designed to meet the challenging complexity and interoperability requirements of the industry has been introduced by CSR. By integrating infotainment, connectivity and location features in a single turnkey SoC solution for the in-vehicle environment, the CSRatlas7 enables the cost-effective extension of features usually associated with high-end vehicles, to entry and mid-level cars.
Smart antenna easily negotiates windy urban canyons
Tallysman has introduced the TW5340 smart antenna, pairing Tallysman‘sAccutenna technologywith STMicroelectronics’ Teseo II receiver. This combination makes this product the most accurate smart antenna for use in every environment, including urban canyons. The TW5340 is a multi-constellation GNSS Smart Antenna which provides simultaneous GPS/GLONASS/SBAS reception.
Antenna technology for the IoT
Connecting devices is key for IoT and M2M applications. Wireless links are a fundamental way of making these connections, allowing devices to be configured and controlled around the world. But this global capability introduces a wide range of choices that impact on the power consumption and performance of the whole system.
PTP client capacity doubled for LTE synchronisation clock
Microsemi has doubled the Precision Time Protocol (PTP) client capacity of its TimeProvider2700 PTP GrandMaster (GM) clock, providing synchronisation to LTE Networks. The TimeProvider 2700 now provides simultaneous hardware time stamping support of up to 128 PTP clients, resulting in a significant cost benefit using a single GM clock.
Test options proliferate at Automotive Test Expo
A solution for testing automatic in vehicle emergency call systems will be a highlight on Rohde & Schwarz’s stand at the Automotive Testing Expo in Stuttgart (June 16-18). Based on an EU decision, eCall will be mandatory in all new car models from April 2018. ERA-Glonass, which is the Russian equivalent, was launched in spring 2015.
