GNSS module combines GPS, Glonass, Beidou, Galileo & SBAS
A GNSS module that combines GPS, Glonass, Beidou, Galileo and SBAS for the creation of high-performance position reporting and navigation solutions has been released by Telit Wireless Solutions. The SE868-V3 can navigate to -162dBm and track to -166dBm, thereby providing improved performance in harsh environments.
Wireless hardware platform for connecting field devices to the cloud
Round Solutions has launched its wireless PingPong IoT edge node, a flexible and powerful hardware platform for connecting field devices to the cloud. The RTOS supporting small form factor board with powerful Microchip PIC32MZ 32-bit MCU and a high-speed cellular Telit module is based on a modular hardware design principle, that simplifies the integration of custom-specific applications and communication standards into a single solution platform.
Antennas are specified for M2M, wearables & IoT
Antenova has announced three families of antenna products which are suitable for M2M, wearable and IoT applications. Several antennas from each product family are to be released during 2015, with the first, a miniature ceramic antenna, becoming available in May.Each product family comprises embedded antennas of a particular style, and will be marketed under one of three brand names: lamiiANT, ceriiANT, and flexiiANT.
Integrated wideband chip antenna enables L1 band reception
u-blox announces the CAM-M8C, a small, low profile GNSS positioning module with an integrated wideband chip antenna for reception across the entire L1 band. The module offers simultaneous GNSS operation for GPS/GLONASS, GPS/BeiDou or GLONASS/BeiDou to deliver accurate, jamming-resistant and reliable positioning anywhere in the world.
Quantum rubidium clock exceeds LTE base station requirements
Microsemi has announced the availability of its enhanced Quantum Rubidium Miniature Atomic Clock (MAC) SA.3X family. The company says that its enhanced Quantum MAC SA.3X family, based on Coherent Population Trapping (CPT) technology, isone of the industry’s smallest, lightest and highest-performing MACs, meeting all traditional broad market frequency reference application needs.
150Mb/s LTE Category 4 modem supports FDD-LTE in band 28
u-blox has announcedTOBY-L280, the first LTE Category 4 rugged module in an LGA package that supports FDD-LTE in frequency band 28. Band 28 is now in commercial use in Taiwan, Australia and New Zealand, with further rollouts planned throughout the Asia Pacific region, Brazil and Argentina. Capable of download speeds up to 150Mb/s, u-blox says that the TOBY-L280 is the world’s fastest and smallest modem of its kind.
DSP targets IoT & wearable SoCs
Suitable for applications requiring merged controller plus DSP computation, ultra-low energy and a small footprint, the Tensilica Fusion DSP has been released by Cadence Design Systems. Based on the Xtensa customisable processor, the device can be designed into SoCs for wearable activity monitoring, indoor navigation, context-aware sensor fusion, secure local wireless connectivity, face trigger, voice trigger and voice recognition.
Multistandard test solution presented at Bluetooth event
The Rohde & Schwarz CMW500 wideband radio communication tester is the only instrument to support all 38 RF signaling tests specified by the Bluetooth SIG together with other cellular technologies such as LTE, LTE-A, WCDMA, GSM, CDMA2000 as well as non-cellular technologies such as WLAN and GNSS. It will be demonstrated at Bluetooth World 2015 in Santa Clara, California (April 14-15).
Improving 3D automotive navigation accuracy
Increasingly dense urban environments, covered car parks and multi-level highways pose a significant problem to vehicle navigation systems. Two techniques are used: dead reckoning and map matching but using the latter increases complexity and creates a dependency on 3rd-party providers of accurate map data. Also, the map data is constantly changing, especially in high-density cities.
GNSS solution addresses challenge of indoor synchronisation
The Integrated GNSS Master (IGM) solution, required for small cell synchronisation, has been introduced by Microsemi. The IGM is the company’s first solution that fully integrates a 1588v2 PTP grandmaster with a GNSS receiver and antenna in a small, fully contained package, designed to mount indoors. The Microsemi IGM solves the often documented challenge of indoor synchronisation which has been a very significant hurdle for cost-effective ...
