Passives
Optical passive components designed with low insertion loss
LASER COMPONENTS supplies optical passive components for the 'eye-safe' spectral region at around 2um. This wavelength is used in various applications such as research and development, gas detection, LIDAR, medical diagnostics and sensing, micromachining andmaterial processing, free-space optical communication and spectroscopy.
Diode protects MRI receivers from high RF energy fields
Availability and full design support capabilities for a diode for MRI applications from MACOM Technology Solutions has been announced by Richardson RFPD. The MADP-009989 diode was designed to protect MRI receivers from high RF energy fields, including long RF pulses and RF spike pulses present in most MRI machines.
Thick-film power resistor cuts component costs
An AEC-Q200 qualified thick-film power resistor featuring a clip mount TO247 package for direct mounting on a heatsink has been released by Vishay Intertechnology. For automotive applications, the Vishay Sfernice LTO 150 offers industry-high power dissipation of 150 W at a +45 °C case temperature and an improved pulse handling capability.
Radial capacitors offer high ripple current
It has been announced that Panasonic Industry Europe is releasing a new series of automotive qualified aluminium electrolytic capacitors benefiting from very high ripple current (two to 2.5 times higher than existing FC series products) and large capacitance values (up to 60% higher than existing FC series products).
Compact SMD 5W current sense resistors
It has been announced that Stackpole's new HCSM2818 is a 5W surface mount part with an all-metal element and moulded construction. The HCSM2818 is available in resistance values of four, five, ten, 15, and 20mΩ in one and five percent tolerances. TCR is 200 ppm for the values below ten milliohm and 75ppm for values of ten milliohm and above.
Pulse capacitor offers high dielectric constant with increased stability
The CF/CFS Series Dielectric Ceramic Pulse Chips Capacitors with a Printed Resistor option from Exxelia Temex are available at distributor New Yorker Electronics. Designed for Military/Defense, these capacitors are ideal for charge/discharge applications and AC filtering for high power RF.
AEC-Q200 compliant high power current sense resistor series
It has been announced that Bourns has released their latest current sense resistor families, the Model CSM2F Series. This new series is manufactured using a metal alloy element that is electron beam welded to tinned copper terminals, which gives them excellent electrical characteristics, delivers additional mechanical strength and enables ease of solderability.
SMD high current jumpers in sizes from 0402 to 2512
Stackpole's HCJ Series, a surface mount chip jumper, offers current ratings ranging from 14.2amps for the 0402 up to 63.2amps for the HCJ2512. In comparison, the typical rated current for a standard 2512 thick film jumper is 3amps. The HCJ0402 has a maximum resistance of 3mΩ while the other sizes have a maximum resistance of 0.5mΩ. This ensures much lower power dissipation for the HCJ compared to similar jumpers with typical resi...
The braking resistors that will not break
One of the most popular works of Renaissance sculpture is Michelangelo’s David, a piece that has become synonymous with human strength and beauty. Despite its seemingly perfect proportions, a basic design flaw of the statue has recently been brought to light. Recurring micro-fractures in the ankles might cause the statue to collapse under its own weight. Author: David Atkins, Projects Director at Cressall Resistors
High temperature wet electrolytic tantalum capacitor launched
It has been announced that AVX Corporation has launched a new high temperature wet electrolytic tantalum capacitor series, designed for use at 230°C. The new TWA-X Series features a high capacitance cathode system that achieves high CV performance.
