Maximum temperature of wet tantalum supercapacitors increased
Manufacturer and supplier of advanced electronic components, AVX Corporation, has increased the maximum operating temperature for its TWD High-Temp Max-Cap (HTMC) Series axial leaded, hermetically sealed wet tantalum capacitors from 125 to 175°C.
Pushing beyond 10GB/s with RFO transceiver
TE Connectivity has announced the release of its new ParaByte transceiver. The release of this rugged parallel optical transceiver marks TE’s first launch of an optical transceiver capable of achieving 10+ GB/s while also meeting standards for rugged performance. Through the addition of this high-speed transceiver, TE is now a one-stop source for rugged fibre optic (RFO) solutions, simplifying procurement for customers.
TVS array for circuit protection in data interfaces
ProTek Devices has introduced an ultra low capacitance Transient Voltage Suppressor array (TVS array) for circuit protection in popular data interface connections such as Gigabit Ethernet, FireWire, USB 2.0 and 3.0, and HDMI 1.4 and 2.0. The very low capacitance for the new PLR0521U TVS array is 0.8pF max (typical).
Graphene-based ultracapacitors capture energy from 10m waves
Skeleton Technologies and MJR Power and Automation have signed a contract to commercialise Skeleton Technologies ultracapacitors in MJR’s systems.
Expanded portfolio of ULTEM UTF120 film for dielectric capacitors
At PCIM (Power Conversion and Intelligent Motion) Europe 2018, SABIC introduced two new gauges of ULTEM UTF120 polyetherimide (PEI) dielectric film for high temperature, professional-grade capacitor applications.
Heat sink device provides non-inductive, high heat dissipation
A heat sink device with enhanced power size ratio, high stability and optimum heat dissipation from Tepro has been introduced by distributor New Yorker Electronics. Typical applications for the TO-220 Non-Inductive, Thick-Film Heat Sink Resistor are switching power supplies and various types of pulse circuits.
Current sense resistors come in 2- and 4-terminal options
The CSS series high power current sense resistors from Bourns that come in both 2-terminal and 4-terminal options can now be sourced in Europe through TTI. The 2-terminal models are available in three different footprint sizes: 5930, 3920 and 2512 (6332 Metric). With resistance values as low as 0.2mΩ, each family will have a range of low resistance options and power ratings of up to 15W.
Rectifiers increase power density and efficiency
FRED Pt rectifiers from Vishay which are available from Rutronik UK, significantly increase power density, performance efficiency and device reliability. The rectifiers come in a thermally efficient FlatPAK 5x6 package with low profile of < 1 mm and are available in commercial/industrial and automotive grade versions with either 2x3A or 2x4A forward current for each type.
Mica grid resistors offer improved power capacity
A series of high power, high current mica grid resistors in the standard mill bank size has been released by Vishay Intertechnology. Offering designers a lower cost option to the standard stainless steel grid design, Vishay Milwaukee GREM resistors feature EDG technology for improvements in power capacity, weight, and watt density, while maintaining the same package size.
Meeting customer demand despite severe worldwide capacitor shortage
Distributors continue to help cushion customers from the effects of components shortages, though there are signs of a softening market. Addressing analysts on a call hosted by seeking alpha.com, Arrow Electronics CEO Michael Long indicated that while it’s global components business leading indicators remained healthy and its backlog continued to grow at robust rate, the rate of sequential year-over-year growth moderated.
