Farnell element14 today announced availability of the Gizmo 2 DIY developer platform from GizmoSphere, a non-profit development board community. Built on the award-winning AMD Embedded G-Series SoC, Gizmo 2 is a second-generation open source x86-based single board computer (SBC) with 85 GFLOPS performance, providing the power of a high-performance computer and the I/O capabilities of a microcontroller.

At electronica this week, Elma Electronic is showcasing the first in its family of SureLock multi-segment, extruded aluminum retaining devices. The new 325 Series securely holds in place printed circuit boards (PCBs) mounted directly to the board and slid into a channel in the cold plate.

Pentek Inc., today announced the addition of 6U VPX boards to the Pentek product line: the Models 57xxx with one XMC module installed and the Models 58xxx with two XMC modules installed. These products extend the Pentek building block strategy of using Cobalt Virtex-6 and Onyx Virtex-7 XMC FPGA modules on carriers for open architecture industry-standard form factors.

The Raspberry Pi Model A+ has been launched by element14. emtrion has extended its DIMM family with a new industrial processor module, based on the Cortex-A9 RZ/A1 family from Renesas. It is available at distributor Rutronik. The module is fully compatible with the other modules of the emtrion DIMM series, both electrically and mechanically.
