A one-channel DC brush motor driver IC has been introduced by Toshiba Electronics Europe for use in industrial equipment supporting high current and voltage. The company has claimed that the TB67H303HG is the industry’s first monolithic IC to realise 10A output current and 50V withstand voltage.

Consisting of the TK31N60X, TK39N60X and TK62N60X, Toshiba has announced the introduction of the DTMOS IV-H series high-speed switching type super junction MOSFETs. The 600V MOSFETs are suitable for applications requiring high reliability, power efficiency and a compact design, such as high efficiency switching power supplies for servers and telecomms base stations and power conditioners for photovoltaic inverters.

Supporting 4K video resolution, the TC358840 Ultra HD HDMI to MIPI CSI-2 (Camera Serial Interface) converter chipset has been introduced by Toshiba. It is suitable for next-generation consumer electronics video applications including 4K (3840x2160) resolution smart TVs, smart monitors, set-top boxes and digital media adapters.

Engineered for mission critical IT operations, a range of HDDs has been announced by Toshiba Electronics Europe. The AL13SX series HDDs with 6Gbit/s SAS interface and 15,000 RPM  spindle speed, combine high performance with capacities up to 600GB and compact 2,5 inch (64mm) size.

A range of SLC NAND flash memory has been expanded upon with the introduction of embedded 8-bit ECC. The range of  24nm BENAND SLC NAND flash memory, from Toshiba Electronics Europe, enables manufacturers to utilise the latest 24nm technology in devices that were designed to use 4xnm NAND. This results in extended product life for devices such as consumer electronics, multimedia devices, smart meters, ...

At embedded world 2014, Toshiba Electronics Europe will exhibit a variety of application processors incorporating the IEEE802.11ac baseband standard for high-speed wireless LAN - and NAND flash memory. The TZ5000 series is suitable for applications including over-the-top tuners, IP media boxes, wearable devices, digital signage and thin clients.

A low power consumption Bluetooth IC, which supports BLE communications, has been launched by Toshiba Electronics Europe. The TC35667FTG has been designed for use in wearable and healthcare-orientated smart devices, sensors, as well as smartphone accessories, remote controllers and toys.

Enabling smartphones and tablets to record full HD video at 240fps equivalent, the T4K82 is a 13MP BSI CMOS image sensor from Toshiba. This sensor incorporates ‘Bright Mode’ technology which boosts image brightness by up to four times, realising full HD video capture at that high frame rate, which the company claim to be the industry's highest.

Available in capacities ranging from 60GB to 512GB, the next-generation of the HG series of SSDs has been announced by Toshiba. The SSDs have been designed for use in notebooks, workstations, read intensive enterprise applications and server boot drives.

Designed to add the sound of a conventional combustion engine to EVs and HEVs, the TB2909FNG is a single-chip amplifier from Toshiba Electronics Europe. The device also supports other external audible output including reversing alarms and ‘answerback’ confirmation for keyless remote entry security.

Designed for nearline business-critical workloads, the MG04 series 7,200 RPM HDDs have been released by Toshiba. Available in capacities up to 5TB (terabyte), Toshiba have claimed that these HDDs are the industry’s first enterprise capacity drives to feature Persistent Write Cache technology. This enables improved application performance and data-loss protection in the event of unexpected power loss.

Designed to meet the high-current charging requirements of the latest mobile devices, Toshiba introduce the SSM6K781G N-channel and SSM6J771G P-channel ultra-compact MOSFETs in wafer level chip scale packages measuring just 1.5x1.0mm and rated for power dissipation of up to 1.2W.

Providing reinforced insulation and low LED trigger currents of 3mA max, the TLP267J and TLP268J are the latest Triac-output photocouplers from TEE. The reduced trigger current allows the devices to control output at a lower input current, thus contributing to lower power consumption.

32 devices, designed to save space and reduce losses in synchronous rectification, have been announced by TEE. The 32 devices will be added to the company's existing UMOS VIII-H ultra-efficient MOSFET family and reduce space and losses in not just synchronous rectification, but in primary and secondary side switching applications and other high-speed designs requiring device ratings from 60V to 250V.

Combining high-speed communication with low power consumption, the TLP2361 and TLP2161 photocouplers have been introduced by Toshiba. Suitable applications for the devices include use in factory networking, high-speed digital interfacing for instrumentation and control devices, and I/O interface boards.

A bluetooth starter kit designed to speed up dual mode development has been announced by TEE. The starter kit (BMSKTOPASM369BT) enables users of TEE's TC35661SBG-501 (“Chiron-501”) Dual Mode Bluetooth IC (BT 4.0) to develop their designs quickly. 

Designed for power management applications in mobile devices, the SSM6N58NU low-resistance dual N-channel MOSFET meets the needs of high current as well as wireless charging circuits used in smartphones, tablets and laptops. Toshiba Electronics Europe's latest MOSFET ensures efficiency and switching speeds through a design that minimizes ON resistance (RDS(ON)) and input capacitance (CISS).    

Focusing images after a photo has been taken is now a possibility with the introduction of Toshiba's dual camera module. Claiming to be the industry's first dual camera module to incorporate twin 1/4 inch optical format 5 megapixel CMOS camera modules (5 megapixels x 2 arrays), the TCM9518MD is able to simultaneously output recorded images and depth data. Enabling faster wireless charging of mobile devices, the enhanced TB6865FG power transmitter and TC7763WBG receiver chipset from Toshiba Electronics Europe as been made available. Supporting 5W power transfer and compatible with the QI standard 1.1, the chipset also features a rigorous Foreign Object Detection function and an integrated digital logic controller that reduces component count and minimizes design complexity.    

At Embedded World 2014, Toshiba will be demonstrating a Digital Kiosk which combines TransferJet, NFC and Qi wireless charging technology. In this example use case rich digital content, including HD video, can be quickly purchased and downloaded to mobile devices, such as smartphones.
