5TB, 7200rpm HDD for cloud computing applications

Designed for bulk storage systems and servers supporting cloud-based applications and analytic workloads, Toshiba Electronics Europe has introduced the MC04ACAxxx series of enterprise high-capacity hard disk drives (HDDs). With a 3.5" form factor, up to 5TB of storage and 7,200 rotations per minute (RPM) performance, the series are suitable for workloads and storage requirements generated by cloud computing.

40V Trench-MOSFETs deliver 0.7mΩ typical RDS(ON)

Based on the company’s next generation U-MOS IX-H semiconductor process, Toshiba has introduced its latest family of low-voltage, ultra-efficiency Trench-MOSFETs. According to the manufacturer, these MOSFETs deliver industry leading RDS(ON)*QOSS (on resistance to output charge product) figure of merit for this class of devices.

Processor can recognise lanes, road signs & vehicles

The introduction of the TMPV7502XBG signals an expansion of Toshiba Electronics Europe's line of TMPV750 image recognition processors. Designed for small-size camera modules, the device can be used in ADAS that recognise lanes, road signs, vehicles and pedestrians from images collected by cameras positioned around the car and in electronic side mirrors.

PCIM 2014: Smart gate driver photocoupler monitors IGBT modules

Delivering the ability to monitor IGBT modules to prevent problems rather than react to an incident is a theme at this year’s PCIM exhibition in Nuremberg. Toshiba Electronics Europe (TEE) contribution to meet this demand is a smart gate driver photocoupler with 4A (max) output current housed in a thin SO16L package for use in driving medium-power IGBTs and power MOSFETs.

4TB hard disk drives for surveillance applications

3.3A photorelay for testing and control applications

Housed in a 6.3x7.0mm 2.54SOP6 package, the TLP3107 photorelay has been introduced by Toshiba. Embedded NAND flash memory module is UFS Ver. 2.0 compliant

Toshiba has claimed that it is the first in the industry to provide 32 and 64GB embedded NAND flash memory modules that are compliant with the JEDEC UFS (Universal Flash Storage) Ver. 2.0 standard. It supports maximum transfer rates up to 11.6Gb/s by integrating two 5.8Gb/s High-speed MIPI M-PHY HS-G3 I/F data lanes - an optional feature of UFS Ver. 2.0.

The world’s first 15nm process technology

Replacing second generation 19nm process technology (the company's former flagship process), Toshiba has developed what it claims to be the world’s first 15nm process technology. The chips achieve the same write speed as chips formed with second generation 19nm process technology, but boost the data transfer rate to 533Mb/s, 1.3 times faster, by employing a high speed interface.

15nm NAND flash memories to start mass production

A 15nm process technology, claimed to be the world's first by manufacturer Toshiba, has been developed and will apply to 2-bit-per-cell 128Gb (16GB) NAND flash memories. Mass production utilising the new technology will start at the end of April 2014 at Fab 5 Yokkaichi Operations, Toshiba’s NAND flash fabrication facility (fab). Transmit up to 100m with a drive current of just 6mA

Extending their portfolio of TOSLINK fibre optic modules, the TOxX1350-series from Toshiba supports signal transmission from DC or any data rates up to 10Mb/s. Transmission distances of 40-100m can be achieved with a drive current of only 6mA and it is possible to operate the transmitter with a drive current of only 1.5mA to achieve transmission distances of 0.2-50m.

Photocoupler targets servo motors & PLCs

The TLP2391, a high-speed photocoupler from Toshiba Electronics Europe, targets servo motors and PLCs and is operable in both plus and minus LED input currents.  Use of the TLP2391 will enable developers to eliminate multiple bridge circuits from many applications, reducing board size, power consumption and BOM.

Ultra-small white LEDs for lighting applications

Designed as light sources for general lighting, including straight tube lights, light bulbs and ceiling lights, the TL1WK series of ultra-small chip scale package white LEDs have been announced by Toshiba. Compared to conventional 3.0x1.4mm package products, these LEDs can reduce the mounting area by up to 90%.

1W & 0.6W LEDs suited for general lighting applications

Two series of white LEDs, the 3.5 x 3.5mm lens package 1W type TL1L2 series, and the 3.0 x 3.0mm flat package 0.6W type TL3GB series, has been unveiled by Toshiba Electronics Europe. Both have been developed as light sources for general lighting applications (including light bulbs, base lights, down lights and ceiling lights), street lights and floodlights.

Self-encrypting HDD achieves Federal security validation

A 7mm HDD with self-encrypting technology has been validated to U.S. Federal Information Processing Standard 140-2 (FIPS 140-2). The MQ01ABUxxxBW series, from Toshiba Electronics Europe, is the company's first self-encrypting drive (SED) validated to the FIPS 140-2 standard and includes Toshiba’s wipe technology, which automatically erases data when an HDD is accessed by an unregistered system.
