Acuson Sequoia to address industry challenges in ultrasound imaging
Siemens Healthineers has announced the launch of its ultrasound system, the Acuson Sequoia. The Acuson Sequoia, a general imaging ultrasound system, was developed in response to one of the most prevalent challenges in ultrasound imaging today: the imaging of different sized patients with consistency and clarity. With its Deep Abdominal Transducer (DAX), a new high-powered architecture, and updates to elastography and contrast-enhanced ultrasound,...
SOMATOM go CT scanners receive FDA clearance
The FDA has cleared the SOMATOM go.All and SOMATOM go.Top CT systems from Siemens Healthineers. These additions to the company’s go. CT platform expand its concept of patient-centric mobile workflow, which is controlled via tablet and remote, into advanced clinical fields and applications such as cardiology, CT-guided intervention, and dual energy CT.
SOMATOM Edge Plus CT system receives FDA clearance
The FDA has cleared the SOMATOM Edge Plus CT system from Siemens Healthineers, which features the FAST (Fully Assisting Scanner Technologies) Integrated Workflow with the FAST 3D Camera – the first patient positioning system powered by artificial intelligence. Additionally, the new scanner allows for automated scan preparation, improved diagnostic confidence, and customised patient dose, making it ideal for high-volume practices and emergen...
The arrival of self-driving cars with sensor fusion and processing
At Siemens US Innovation Day in Chicago, Siemens introduced a breakthrough solution for the development of autonomous driving systems. The solution, part of the Simcenter portfolio, minimises the need for extensive physical prototyping while dramatically reducing the number of logged test miles necessary to demonstrate the safety of autonomous vehicles.
Revelation mammography system receives FDA clearance
Siemens Healthineers has just received FDA clearance for its MAMMOMAT Revelation. It is the first mammography system capable of automatic breast density measurement during the exam itself, as opposed to during review of the images. The system performs tomosynthesis scans with an angle range of 50 degrees, the widest on the market, which helps to work with overlapping breast tissue and giving a more detailed 3D view.
A portable cardiovascular-dedicated ultrasound system
At the American College of Cardiology’s 67th Annual Scientific Session and Expo, Siemens Healthineers launched its new portable cardiovascular ultrasound solution, the ACUSON Bonsai. According to a recent study, 34 million echo exams were performed in the U.S. in 2017. The ACUSON Bonsai addresses the challenge of these increased clinician workloads by providing a portable and quick system, while maintaining high-quality imaging and diagnost...
Siemens continues to invest in IC industry with planned acquisition
Siemens has entered into an agreement to acquire Oulu, Finland-based Sarokal Test Systems Oy, provider of innovative test solutions for fronthaul networks that are comprised of links between the centralised radio controllers and the radio heads (or masts) at the 'edge' of a cellular network. Sarokal products are used by chipset vendors, fronthaul equipment manufacturers, and telecom operators to develop, test and verify their 4G and 5G netwo...
Robots: East versus West
There’s a lot of debate right now about the future of robots and the number of humans they will replace once they get their AI empowered ‘feet’ under the desk or the workbench.
Come and write your own digitalisation story with Siemens
Scalable digital solutions that aid companies to stay ahead of the game and utilise the full potential of digitalisation is what Siemens Digital Enterprise portfolio has to offer at this year’s SPS Drives show, and the company does not stop there. Siemens also offers opportunities to learn about how its 'digital twins' provide major advantages for machine building and plant engineering.
MAGNETOM Terra 7T MRI scanner receives FDA approval
The FDA has cleared the MAGNETOM Terra MRI scanner from Siemens Healthineers – the first-ever 7 Tesla MRI cleared for diagnostic imaging. This advanced ultra-high-field scanner produces cross-sectional images of the head and knee, and is intended for patients over 66 lbs. The system’s neurological and musculoskeletal (MSK) applications have the potential to help physicians achieve unprecedented breakthroughs in clinical care by reveal...
DC transmission system connects remote communities to the grid
Serving as an efficient transmission route in medium-voltage AC grids from 30-50kV, Siemens has introduced a new direct-current transmission system to the market; the MVDC PLUS (Medium Voltage Direct Current Power Link Universal System). Siemens has developed the transmission system for grid operators who need to enlarge their infrastructure to handle the increasing volumes of power fed into the distribution system from distributed and renew...
MAGNETOM RT Pro edition suits MAGNETOM Vida
Siemens Healthineers has just unveiled their brand new MAGNETOM RT Pro edition for MAGNETOM Vida, a 3 Tesla MRI scanner specifically designed for planning radiation therapy procedures. It has a new magnet, a pretty large 55x55x50 field of view, and an optional 60/200 XT gradient system that the firm believes may improve geometric distortions.
Ultra-high MRI scanner receives EU Approval
Siemens Healthineers has just won the first European regulatory approval for an ultra-high-field MRI scanner to be used in clinical practice. The Magnetom Terra sports a magnetic field strength of 7 Tesla, which is considerably more powerful than 3 Tesla, the current high-end standard. MRIs of such strength have been used in research hospitals for years, so it’s a welcome sign that they’re going to be used in more routine applications...
