Taking its first step into high-performance oscilloscopes Rohde & Schwarz announced today (June 12) the first instrument in its RTP range which covers bandwidths of 4GH, 6GHz and 8GHz. Citing the need to test products for what he described as “a data hungry generation”, Jithu Abraham, UK Product Manager, Oscilloscopes for Rohde & Schwarz listed some of the challenges.  

In October 2017, Rohde & Schwarz launched the R&S DSA DOCSIS signal analyser to enable real-time analysis of high-speed DOCSIS 3.0 and DOCIS 3.1 signals. Now the company is unveiling the new R&S DSA-K1500 upstream analysis option for cable modem testing.

At Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Rohde & Schwarz and Unigroup Spreadtrum & RDA, a fabless semiconductor company with advanced technology in mobile communications and IoT, announced a joint operator test laboratory in China as part of a memorandum of understanding (MoU).

  One of the major transmission technologies for the IoT is Bluetooth Low Energy (LE). Bluetooth LE components are found in a variety of applications in the automotive industry, in sports and healthcare, in consumer electronics and smart homes, and in other areas. Many of these radio sensors are very small and integrated into equipment.

Two dedicated options for generating and analysing 5G NR signals to test base stations, UE and 5G components such as power amplifier have been released by Rohde & Schwarz. The R&S SMW-K144 5G NR signal generation option will enable users to generate signals for 5G NR downlink and uplink in line with 3GPP Release 15, specifically the 3GPP TS 38.211, 38.212, 38.213 and 38.214 specifications for the NR physical layer and transport layer.

Verification of 3GPP Release 14 location services (LCS), which is one of the new positioning technologies for NarrowBand-IoT (NB-IoT) has been announced by Rohde & Schwarz and CommSolid. The Cat-NB2 verification was performed with CommSolid’s NB-IoT modem solution against the R&S CMW500 mobile communication tester.
