Molex's EON compliant pin technology provides a better alternative to wave soldering processes in power and signal PCB assembly for automotive electrical and electronic systems. The EON compliant solutions support OEM and Tier 1 automotive suppliers in meeting stringent manufacturing requirements and environmental initiatives.

Molex recently launched its Polymicro Technologies optical fibre bundle assemblies. The bundle assemblies are custom configured for scientific and industrial optical requirements, including biotechnology and pharmaceutical diagnostic equipment, semiconductor fabrication and inspection and laser welding and marking.

Molex has expanded its fibre optic technology platform following the recent acquisition of Oplink Communications. Molex will now manage the provider of optical communication components, intelligent modules and subsystems for a wide variety of customer applications.

  Molex subsidiary, Polymicro Technologies has announced the tight tolerance Vision System (VS) flexible fused silica capillary tubing. This provides industry-leading precise internal diameter tolerances for 'unparalleled' gas and fluidic flow control in medical, scientific and industrial applications.

A range of non-magnetic RF contacts and modules, designed to align with the connector types and performance requirements of MRI equipment manufacturers, have been introduced by Molex. According to the company, the MediSpec non-magnetic RF contacts and modules are offered at a more affordable price point than non-magnetic versions.

Expanding its EXTreme Guardian Power Connector system, Molex announces the addition of 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 circuit harness connector components. The new components include non-overmoulded latching cable receptacle housings, terminal position assurance clips and latchable vertical and right angle headers providing power supply manufactures with more options when designing.

A Canadian designer and manufacturer of RF/microwave solutions for the wireless communications industry, SDP Telecom, has been acquired by Molex.

To address the demand for reliable optical connectivity in defence applications, Molex has released the VersaBeam MT interconnects. The interconnects deliver outstanding optical data performance in high density fibre applications where Expanded Beam (EB) solutions would prove an advantage. 

Suited for high-current applications requiring flexible wire-to-wire and wire-to-board configurations, the Super Sabre Power Connector System has been introduced by Molex. The power connectors can deliver 34.0A per blade at operating temperatures of up to +125°C, making them suitable for automotive, appliance, medical, datacomms and industrial control applications.

Designed for both static connectivity to sensors and dynamic applications, such as in chains and robotics equipment, the Flamar-Flex cable has been announced by Molex. The cable can operate reliably and safely in extremely small bending radius applications as a result of its permissible bending radius, which is five times the outside diameter.

Claimed to deliver industry leading right angle connections with low applied cost, Molex's SolderRight direct solder terminals can now fulfil direct solder wire-to-board designs where a very low profile right angle solder option for wires exiting a PCB is necessary due to severe space constraints. This enables a secure and reliable connection with a minimal 'z' profile.

Molex has announced that its Mini50 line of connection systems has been instrumental in setting the performance guidelines being established for Single Twisted Pair Ethernet (IEEE P802.3bw 100BASE-T1), expected to be launched in 2015 by automotive OEMs. Automotive Ethernet was one of the topics discussed at CES 2015, 6th to 9th January in Las Vegas, where the Mini50 Connection System was displayed at many public and private demos.

A speciality waveguide, which integrates mid-infrared laser-power delivery and visible aiming beam alignment in a single light-weight fibre, has been released by Molex. The Polymicro Technologies MediSpec Hollow Silica Waveguide fibre is available in 500, 750 and 1000µm inner diameters with a wavelength range from 2.9 to 10.6μm, making it suitable for a variety of laser power solutions. 

Molex has announced that, alongside certain affiliates, it has acquired SDP Telecom. Utilising manufacturing facilities in China, SDP designs and manufactures RF/microwave solutions from its Montreal headquarters, for the wireless communications industry.

The custom-off-the-shelf interconnect combines premium performance and ease-of-use, incorporating proven cost-effective technology to meet the stringent standards of medical-device users.

FCT electronic, a Molex company, has introduced modular D-Sub mixed-layout connectors and cable assemblies. The D-Sub mixed layout connectors can combine power, signal, RF and pneumatics to accommodate a range of industrial automation applications and up to IP69 sealing is available for harsh environments, where regular wash-downs are required such as in the food and drinks industry.

Designed for optical cabling in medical electronic applications such as diagnostic imaging, optical sensors or data and galvanic isolation purpose such as X-ray machines and dental equipment, the fully customisable Plastic Optical Fibre (POF) and Hard Polymer Clad Fibre (HPCF) assemblies and harnesses have been released by Molex.

Molex has announced that it has signed a definitive agreement as a strategic partner and investor in Chicago-based NuCurrent, a developer of wireless power antenna technology.
