Rad-hard FPGA dev kit suits high-bandwidth space designs
Microsemi has announced the availability of its RTG4 FPGA Development Kit, the first of its kind to provide space designers with an evaluation and development platform for applications such as data transmission, serial connectivity, bus interface and high-speed designs using Microsemi’s RTG4 high-speed signal processing radiation-tolerant FPGA device.
Industrial Ethernet development board in CAT-5 & SFP versions
Microsemi and Nine Ways Research & Development have jointly announced the availability of Nine Way’s NetFusion, an industrial Ethernet switch development board based on Microsemi’s SmartFusion 2 SoC FPGA device. NetFusion is a hardware solution specifically designed for industrial networking, motor control, site perimeter telemetry and telematics for industrial segment customers.
Compact radio module is optimised for use in medical implants
Microsemi has announced the availability of the smallest radio module it has ever produced, measuring just 5.5x4.5x1.5mm. The ZL70323 is optimised for implantable medical devices such as pacemakers, cardiac defibrillators and neurostimulators. The radio module supersedes the company’s ZL70321 and complements its ZL70120 radio module used for external device controllers.
Smart inductor sensor IC offers excellent noise immunity
Microsemi has announced the availability of the first device in its latest family of sensor interface ICs based upon inductive sensing technology. The LX3301A, the first inductive sensor IC in the market utilising Linear Variable Differential Transformer (LVDT) architecture implementations on PCBs, is designed for applications within the automotive and industrial markets.
SoC FPGA-based kit enables easy touchscreen HMI development
Microsemi and Mikroprojekt have announced Mikroprojekt’s compact, high performance HMI platform, based on Microsemi’s SmartFusion2 SoC FPGA devices and comprising an easy-to-use way to develop touchscreen HMI solutions. Such solutions can be deployed across a wide range of industrial and building automation, digital signage, vending machine, medical, automotive and appliance applications.
SATA SSD targets mission critical applications
Microsemi has announced its highest security and capacity SATA SSD for defence, intelligence, UAV and other defence-related Network Area Storage (NAS) applications. As increased use of high resolution sensors is changing the way data is stored, higher density SSDs are needed. Microsemi is addressing this market need by leveraging the company’s miniaturisation technology in a compact 2.5”, 9.5mm form factor.
Secure boot FPGA protects valuable IP from attack
Microsemi has completed Differential Power Analysis (DPA) testing on its secure boot FPGA solution, which resolves side channel vulnerabilities inherent in the configuration process of large SRAM FPGAs. The DPA testing was completed using the Test Vector Leakage Assessment (TVLA) methodology developed by Cryptography Research Incorporated (CRI), a division of Rambus.
FPGAs have achieved AEC-Q100 grade 2 qualification
Low power, flash-based FPGAs and ARM Cortex-M3 enabled SoC FPGAs, which have achieved AEC-Q100 grade 2 qualification, have been released by Microsemi. According to the company, the automotive-grade qualified SmartFusion2 and IGLOO2 devices are the only devices in the industry to offer advanced security and high reliability features critical for automotive applications.

Microsemi has announced its Radiation-Tolerant (RT) ProASIC3 FPGAs have been qualified by the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency as QML (Qualified Manufacturers List) Class Q. The devices are also the first flash-based FPGAs to receive a QML qualification.
Ethernet switch offers competitive port configurations
Microsemi will add a member to its SparX-IV enterprise Ethernet switch product family, the VSC7449, offering significantly higher switching capacity and competitive port configurations. The SparX-IV enterprise Ethernet switch is suitable for managed Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and enterprise switch platforms, including WiFi access and aggregation, as well as industrial IoT applications.

PTP client capacity doubled for LTE synchronisation clock
Microsemi has doubled the Precision Time Protocol (PTP) client capacity of its TimeProvider 2700 PTP GrandMaster (GM) clock, providing synchronisation to LTE Networks. The TimeProvider 2700 now provides simultaneous hardware time stamping support of up to 128 PTP clients, resulting in a significant cost benefit using a single GM clock.
Switch engine solution achieves CE 2.0 certification
Microsemi has announced that it has achieved Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) CE 2.0 certification for its Serval VSC7418 CE switch engine and CE service application software. A virtual requirement from service providers, the CE 2.0 certification enables Microsemi OEM and ODM customers to accelerate time-to-market with readily interoperable, standards-based equipment for Ethernet business service delivery.
RF, mm-wave & MMIC products showcased at IMS2015

The company says that its enhanced Quantum MAC SA.3X family, based on Coherent Population Trapping (CPT) technology, is one of the industry’s smallest, lightest and highest-performing MACs, meeting all traditional broad market frequency reference application needs.
FPGAs withstand radiation without configuration scrubbing
Microsemi has announced the RTG4 high-speed signal processing radiation-tolerant FPGA family. The RTG4’s reprogrammable flash technology offers complete immunity to radiation-induced configuration upsets in the harshest radiation environments, requiring no configuration scrubbing, unlike SRAM FPGA technology. RTG4 supports space applications requiring up to 150,000 logic elements and up to 300MHz of system performance.
Telemetry controller IC is radiation tolerant to 100kRad TID
A telemetry controller IC, which integrates the required functions in satellite telemetry systems and interfaces with radiation tolerant FPGAs, has been introduced by Microsemi. The LX7730 is the first device to be released from the company’s radiation tolerant Space System Manager (SSM) family of special purpose mixed signal devices.
