Fujitsu launches into distribution market

Fujitsu has transformed its European semiconductor business into a distribution business. Fujitsu Electronics Europe (FEEU) has been trading as a global distributor since the beginning of 2016. Previously doing business as Fujitsu Semiconductor Europe (FSEU), the company now operates from offices in Langen (near Frankfurt), Munich, Milan, Budapest and Istanbul after changing its name and realigning its strategy.

Field trial detects signs of storm sewer system overflows

Fujitsu Laboratories has succeeded in the real-time detection of early signs of storm sewer system overflows during torrential downpours, thereby obtaining data for effective analyses. The data was collected in a sensing system field trial initiated in July 2015 with the City of Koriyama in Japan's Fukushima Prefecture.

Flexible, battery-less beacon is ucode tag certified

Fujitsu's prototype beacon has obtained the world's first ucode tag certification for a beacon from the TRON Forum. This beacon, which is more easily mass produced, will now be capable of globally unique ID transmission, for more reliable location information services. Since this certification complies with international standards, it can be linked with all types of map data that form the foundation for delivering services.

Industrial mainboards with Intel 6th Gen processors

Mainboards feature the 100 series chipset from Intel

Fujitsu has announced the µATX boards of the Classic Desktop series and two boards with longer availability. All boards are equipped with the 100 series chipset from Intel, which supports the 6th Generation Intel Core processors. For the first time they support DDR4 memory. This brings a significant increase in performance. The Intel chipsets enable the use of the new generation’s more powerful CPUs while reducing power consumption.

Industrial mainboards available with 2nd gen AMD G-series SoCs

The Fujitsu D3313-S series of mini-ITX boards are now available in two new AMD Embedded G-series SoC versions. The D3313-S4 with a dual core, 2.2GHz and a cTDP of 10 to 15W and the new D3313-S5 with a quad core, 1.2GHz and a cTDP of 5 to 7W, both use the 2nd gen of AMD G-series SoCs.

1Mb SPI FRAM device offered in a WL-CSP

Fujitsu Semiconductor Europe has launched an ultra small package for the 1Mb SPI FRAM device. The eight-pin WL-CSP is an additional package variant to the existing product MB85RS1MT. In comparison to the industry standard SOP-8 package, the WL-CSP package, which measures 3.09x2.28x0.33mm, reduces the surface mounting area by 77% and the device height by 80%.

Palm vein authentication sensor suits mobile devices

A portable sensor capable of directly connecting to USB ports has been introduced by Fujitsu and Fujitsu Frontech. The device, to be added to the FUJITSU Biometric Authentication PalmSecure-SL Sensor line of contactless palm vein authentication devices for enterprises, will be available in Japan from late September.
