Enabling engineers to achieve higher efficiency, space-saving designs with enhanced mechanical and thermal reliability, AVX has made several new customisation options available for its SMX series Stacked SMPS MLCCs. These options include custom geometries, packages, terminals, lead configurations, and stress relief mounting options.

In order to provide a much broader product offering with several new high volumetric efficiency options, AVX has extended the capacitance range and voltage ratings for its X7R MLCCs. Available in sizes of 01005-2225, the MLCCs exhibit high K and low ESR and are now available with capacitance values spanning 100pF to 47µF and standard voltage ratings of 4-500V.

At the Energy Harvesting & Storage Europe tradeshow, taking place in Berlin, Germany on April 1 - 2 2014, AVX will be exhibiting their latest energy harvesting products.

Designed to address DC blocking from ~16KHz to 40GHz, the GX0S Series of ultra broadband capacitors has been launched by AVX.  Exhibiting ultra broadband performance, extremely low insertion loss, and excellent return loss, the GX0S Series capacitors are packaged in a compact 0301 case. 

A collaboration, under the Strategic MVP Program, has been made between AVX and Modelithics. The collaboration aims to significantly expand the range of AVX components available in the Modelithics Passive Component (CLR) Library, System Level Component (SLC) Library, and AVX sub-library, which already feature more than 20 Microwave Global Models for AVX surface mount capacitor and inductor product lines. 

Three-phase medium power film capacitors,  the FLB series has been introduced by AVX. Operating over a temperature range from -40 to +80°C, typical applications for the series include Power Factor Correction (PFC) and output AC filtering in power converters, UPS systems, solar and wind inverters and motor drives.

The FFLC Series of medium power film capacitors exhibit, AVX claim, higher specific energy than equivalent solutions (up to 240J/l). The expanded series of capacitors also feature AVX’s controlled self-healing technology, which enables safe, high reliability, long lifetime performance with no risk of explosion.

AVX announces custom cable assemblies for the company's 9159 series two-piece wire-to-board (WTB) connectors. When paired with the highly reliable, two-piece contact system, the bonded cable assemblies match the pitch of the connector, providing a cleaner appearance than discrete wires bound by cable ties and simplifying the assembly process.

Motorola Solutions and AVX Corporation have announced the expansion of Solutions for Hope to the Province of North Kivu, the conflict-prone area of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The innovative Solutions for Hope platform allows tantalum from the DRC to be used in Motorola Solutions and AVX products without the involvement of illegal armed groups, or “conflict free.”

AVX has announced that it has received extensive Underwriter Laboratory (UL) certifications for 9176 Series insulation displacement contacts, 9155 Series compression contacts, 9296 Series single poke home contacts and two-piece 9159 Series contacts in industrial applications.

Available in eight chip sizes ranging from 01005 to 1812, AVX has extended the capacitance range of the CV X5R MLCC series. The capacitance values now span 100pF to 100µF. 

Expanding its award-winning 9296 Single Poke-Home Wire-to-Board (WTB) contact series, AVX has announced the addition of an extremely low profile (1.7mm) single-position contact. Featuring a unique closed box design with dual opposing high spring-force contacts that provide excellent wire retention in rugged environments, 9296 series contacts are now available with 1.7, 2, 3 and 4mm profiles.

  Available in both X7R and NP0 (C0G) options, the High Voltage Multilayer Ceramic (MLC) Chip Capacitor series from AVX has been expanded. The capacitor series now offers voltages of 600-5000V and capacitance values of 1.5pF-0.82µF in case sizes covering 0805-3640.

Suitable for high voltage automotive electronics in both standard & hybrid electric vehicles, the X7R High Voltage Automotive MLCCs have been introduced by AVX. The AEC-Q200 qualified capacitors are rated for 630-3000V, capacitance values of 100pF-0.15µF and are available in 1206-2220 chip sizes.

Capable of withstanding operating temperatures as high as 200°C, three high voltage ratings have been added to AVX's SXP-style, encapsulated, radial leaded SMPS capacitor series.
