AVX has released a new series of high-CV resin-moulded, surface-mount tantalum chip capacitors with a miniature and low-profile facedown design optimised for automotive electronics applications. The new F98-AJ6 Series capacitors are currently available in miniature 0603 and 0805 chip sizes with maximum heights of just 1.0mm and 0.80±0.10mm, respectively.

Low profile tantalum capacitor for embedded electronics
AVX Corporation has extended its TACmicrochip Series with what is reportedly the lowest-profile 3216-footprint tantalum capacitor currently available on the market. Measuring just 0.5mm high, the first new ‘I’ case capacitor (EIA Metric 3216-05) is rated for 10μF and 6.3V, but will be followed by future code releases to further extend the offering.
