AVX Corporation will deliver two technical presentations about advanced ceramic and tantalum capacitor technology specifically designed for extended high temperature operation at the International Microelectronics Assembly and Packaging Society’s (IMAPS’) International Conference on High Temperature Electronics (HiTEC 2016), which will take place May 10 – 12th, 2016 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

AVX was showcased on 9th May in a Manufacturing Marvels production, which aired on the Fox Business Network. AVX’s two-minute spotlight provided viewers with a behind-the-scenes look at the company’s Biddeford, Maine, manufacturing facility, which is the leading global supplier of tantalum capacitors for medical devices, like pacemakers.

Delivering the superior reliability performance required by electronic life support applications, AVX has announced the MQ series medical grade MLCCs. Manufactured, tested and qualified using stringent medical design, in-process and lot acceptance requirements, the medical grade MLCCs are suited for applications including: pacemakers, Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillators (ICDs) and neuromodulation devices.

AVX announces two series of WTW (Wire-To-Wire) connectors that deliver considerable cost and space savings in a broad range of industrial electronics designs. The 9286-200 series reduced thru-wire connectors and 9286-250 series reduced junction box connectors feature an active stainless steel spring contact with mechanical properties that allow it to provide maximum wire retention for 18-24AWG solid and stranded wire gauges.

AVX has revealed that it is the first, and currently only, company to be recognised as a qualified supplier of space-level BME (Base Metal Electrode) X7R dielectric MLCCs for use in aerospace designs and US military applications under the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA’s) S-311-P-838 specification.

The F98 Series resin-moulded, undertab termination style tantalum chip capacitors from AVX have been extended with the addition of a CV 0603 tantalum capacitor rated at 100μF/6.3V. The new F98 Series 0603 capacitor halves the footprint of the 0805 component and is free from the DC capacitance/voltage dependency that MLCCs experience.

Manufacturing Marvels, a US television show broadcast on the Fox Business Network, which showcases American manufacturers and their products, featured AVX Corporation in a two minute segment which aired yesterday (17th March).

AVX Corporation has extended its TWA-Y series wet electrolytic tantalum capacitors with the addition of high CV 470µF/100V and 1,000µF/75V components. These components act as drop-in replacements for existing M39006-style wet tantalum capacitors in applications that may require operation at temperatures spanning 125 to 200°C.

AVX has extended the voltage ratings for its award-winning OxiCap NOS Low ESR Series niobium oxide (NbO) capacitors to 8V at 85°C and 7V at 105°C to satisfy automotive applications requiring fail-safe SMD electrolytic capacitors, and has also added standard ESR ratings to satisfy more cost-conscious applications.

AVX has released a COTS+ version of its TCR Professional Series polymer tantalum chip capacitors. Designed for use in critical military systems, the TCB series features conductive polymer electrodes, which enable extremely low ESR and reduce the potential for ignition failure. Each batch undergoes lot conformance testing and additional reliability level verification in order to provide higher reliability than standard polymer tantalum capacitors.
