TRaC’s Analysis team achieves Chartered Engineer qualification landmark
As a measure of the calibre of TRaC’s engineering staff as well as underscoring the company’s commitment to the professional development of their engineers, the Institute of Mechanical Engineers has now awarded Chartered status to all members of the Warwick based Analysis Department.
MoreWhen supporting our clients, TRaC’s analysts draw on a combination of skills and experiences that can only be held as unique.
Core members of the team have written sophisticated finite element software that has been marketed worldwide by the American giant Hewlett Packard as well as authoring specialist software for military, scientific and industrial applications. The understanding of the technology underpinning the analyst’s toolkit that is necessary to these activities makes TRaC’s analysts highly informed users of advanced systems that can have the ability to mislead as well as to inform. Whilst this grasp of analysis theory is vital, devising effective simulations relies on an accurate understanding of the real world behaviour of structures. Here TRaC’s analysts draw on insights gained during their participation in TRaC’s physical test programmes or when designing and validating test fixtures for more demanding dynamic testing.
This seamless link between theory and practice comes into play when TRaC undertakes the qualification of structures having some specification requirements that exceed test equipment capacity; perhaps the mass of a structure is excessive or load levels are too extreme. Benchmarking predictions against measured results allows low-level physical responses to be extrapolated to levels that practical testing cannot achieve and by relating analysis and test, creates the confidence that the outcome is valid. Where no approved qualification regime exists, TRaC’s analysts carry out field data acquisition under real use conditions to establish loading regimes for both analysis purposes and to allow accelerated-life physical qualification tests to be reliably defined.
With the experience of TRaC’s staff endorsed by the leading professional engineering body, the company continues to add value across the complete product development cycle, working closely with clients to integrate design, analysis and test processes.
