Andres Ojalill appointed as IPC's Standards Development Manager in Europe
IPC just announced Andres Ojalill as its new standards development manager in Europe. Ojalill has experience working with IPC’s network of training and certification partners in Europe and has represented IPC’s standards team at various industry events globally including recent Hand Soldering Competitions in Poland and Sweden.
Water-based flux for selective soldering
Water-based fluxes are still considered 'problematic' in many areas – which is wrong according to Emil Otto. As well as being equivalent to alcohol-based fluxes from a soldering perspective, they are environmentally friendly because they are free of VOCs. Emil Otto GmbH has developed a water-based flux for selective soldering as part of its Green Line series and it will be introduced at SMT Hybrid Packaging 2016.
KYZEN’s Dr Bixenman to clean up at ICSR
KYZEN just announced thatDr Mike Bixenman will teach a workshop and present a paper during the SMTA International Conference on Soldering and Reliability (ICSR), scheduled to take place in Toronto. This course is recommended for OEM quality engineers, design engineers, process engineers over cleaning, and test engineers.
Measuring ionic residues on electronic PCBAs
ZESTRON has added Ion Chromatography to itscomprehensive analytical methods. This highly sensitive analytical method provides a detailed report of anions, cations and weak organic acids present on PCBAs according to IPC-TM-650. Thereby, critical substances such as bromide or chloride and their amount can be determined.
650V MOSFET delivers high performance with a small footprint
Expanding its CoolMOS family, Infineon Technologies has introduced the CoolMOS C7 Gold 650V in a TO-Leadless package. This combination of improved superjunction semiconductor process and advanced SMD package design is delivering unparallelled performance in hard switching applications. The small footprint of this package brings power density advantages for server, telecomms and solar applications.
Sub-miniature circular connectors suit space limited applications
Lane Electronics just announced plastic bodied circular connectors designed to suit a variety of applications where space is at a premium. According to the company, typical applications include test and measurement, laboratory equipment, portable products, instrumentation as well as many uses in schools, colleges, universities and teaching establishments.
Sensirion offers protective cover for SHT3x humidity sensors
An optional polyimide foil directly attached to the top surface of the sensor, a protective cover for selected humidity sensors of the SHT3x series has been announced by Sensirion. It covers the SHT3x’s complete sensing area and thus acts as a reliable shield against pollution during SMT assembly of the sensor and subsequent processes, such as conformal coating or potting.
Phil solders on at NEW
The IPC Hand Soldering Competition in association with Advanced Rework Technology Ltd had 25 competitors at this year’s National Electronics Week. The competition levels were higher than ever and judges Debbie Wade and Mark Harvey from ART had their work cut out for them. .
Multi-flux products to be launched at SMT 2016
Hand- and dip-soldering are used at many companies in addition to the wave- and selective-soldering process. Emil Otto GmbH will introduce specific fluxes for each of these applications with the properties in the assortment aligned with the applications.
Lineup of AC current sensors expanded for high current applications
TDK Corporation has expanded its CCT series of clamp AC current sensors with a 600A type. The lineup of TDK current sensors is now positioned to meet the high-current sensing needs of energy management systems (EMS) for buildings, factories, stores and communities.
