Renesas Synergy will be presented during UK seminar
Avnet Memec will be holding a one-day workshop focusing on Renesas Synergy in partnership with Renesas. The event will be held on the 4th May, 2016, at Avnet Memec - Silica in Newbury. The session will address the challenge of software complexity and will dive into the detail of the Renesas Synergy concept. This will be followed by a series of hands-on workshops where attendees will be able to gain experience of the unique Software Platform archi...
Support tools for efficient motor control
The range of 32-bit microcontrollers (MCUs) from Renesas Electronics has been expanded with the launch of the RX24T Group. Using the RXv2 CPU core, the new MCUs deliver double the performance from the RX23T, 30% reduced development time, and features additional instructions designed to accelerate performance and energy efficiency in industrial equipment, office equipment and household appliances.
Multivisor virtualisation solutions suit R-Car H3 SoC
Green Hills Software has announced the immediate availability of its safe and secure INTEGRITY RTOS and INTEGRITY Multivisor virtualisation solutions for Renesas’ R-Car H3 SoC, the first member of the third-generation R-Car automotive computing platform.
Keeping an eye on the watchers
Steve Rogerson reports from last month’s Autotronics automotive electronics show in Taipei.Taiwan watches. It’s what it does best. For years in the consumer electronics space, it has watched what everyone else has been doing and then done the same, but better, cheaper or often both. This ability, which has made it one of the high-tech hubs of the world, is now moving full scale into the automotive space.
The centre of embedded designs
Microcontrollers, processors and SoCs are at the heart of the majority of modern embedded systems, including connected sensor nodes at the edges of the internet of things (IoT). Sally Ward-Foxton explains. At this year’s Embedded World show in Nuremberg, Germany, some of the biggest product launches were in the realm of microcontrollers.
A high-performance replacement for mechanical relays
Renesas Electronic has announced six Intelligent Power Devices (IPDs) for automotive motor and heater control applications. Integrating protection and self-diagnostic functions with MOSFET switching elements, the IPDs are compact, lightweight, power efficient and not subject to the contact wear and tear that affects mechanical relays.
IGBTs minimise conversion losses in power conditioners
Renesas Electronics has expanded its 8th gen G8H series of IGBTs that minimise conversion losses in power conditioners for solar power generation systems and reduce inverter applications in UPS systems. Six new product versions have been released, rated at: 650V/40, 50 & 75A; and 1,250V/25, 40 and 75A.
2016 European MCU Car Rally winners announced
Renesas Electronics Europe has announced the winners of its MCU Car Rally competition for university students, which was held on 25th February at embedded world 2016 in Nuremberg, Germany. Twenty-four teams from all over Europe, comprising some 120 students supported by their professors, participated in the challenge by each developing a functioning model rally car that included sensors and an RX MCU from Renesas.
2015 leading vendors of semiconductors to the OE automotive sector
According to the latest analysis by Semicast Research, NXP was the leading vendor of semiconductors to the OE automotive sector in 2015. Infineon Technologies passed Renesas Electronics to become the second largest vendor, with STMicroelectronics and Texas Instruments completing the top five. Semicast estimates that revenues for OE automotive semiconductors totaled $28.2bn in 2015.
Renesas expands embedded MCU software platform for IoT
Renesas Electronics has announced the expansion of its Renesas Synergy Platform designed to accelerate time-to-market, reduce total cost of ownership and remove many of the obstacles engineers face when designing devices for the IoT. Expansion includes the launch of the S124 Group of Synergy MCUs with ultra-low power operating characteristics and precise analogue signal acquisition/generation capabilities ideal for sensor applications.
