3D printer from KIT spinoff is a 'shooting star'
With its 3D printer for the micrometer scale, the KIT spinoff Nanoscribe has made its way into the final of the competition for the Deutscher Gründerpreis (German Startup Prize) 2015 in the category of ‘Shooting Star’. In the opinion of the jury, the company is one of the most successful German startups of the past years. Among the finalists in the startup category is RESTUBE, a startup of KIT students. Its self-inflatable life b...
Webinar tackes questions on laser & LED power meters
Whether you have a burning question you’ve been meaning to ask, or just want a refresher on how to measure your laser or LED, you won’t want to miss Ophir Photonics' Laser & LED Power Meters webinar. On Wednesday 15thApril, Ophir will host its first ever live Q&A session - an exciting concept for the company. The panel is introduced below:
Conductive adhesive offers fast low-curing temperature
Curing in 30 minutes at 80°C, three minutes at 100°C or 10 seconds at 150°C with an electrical conductivity of 4 x 10-5Ωcm,Engineered Material Systems' latest conductive adhesive, CA-180, is designed for die attach and general circuit assembly applications.CA-180 is suitable for temperature-sensitive applications, as well as those which require high conductivity interconnects.
Film thickness gauge is compact for easy integration
Hamamatsu Photonics K.K. has developed a noncontactfilm thickness measurement system utilising spectral interferometry, the Optical NanoGauge C13027, which offers easier integration into inline manufacturing equipment thanks to its reduced size and compatibility with automation controllers. The system’s footprint is roughly 30% smaller than previous systems of the same type.
Seeing-eye chip offers reliable light & colour detection
Hamamatsu Photonics has announced the availability of a Photo IC diode, the S11154-201CT, with spectral response characteristics designed to closely match that of the human eye. This chip is designed for use as an energy saving sensor within large screen televisions, for example, and other general types of light level measurement.
CMOS sensor for spectrometry detects weak signals
Hamamatsu Photonics has introduced a CMOS linear image sensor designed specifically for spectrometry applications; the S10121 to S10124 series. Each pixel on the sensor acts as a self-containing photodiode offering variable integration time, so the integration time is shortened if the pixel is bright and lengthened if it is dim.
Low-noise camera allows focus on two regions of interest
Hamamatsu Photonics has introduced the ORCA Flash4.0 LT camera with W-VIEW Mode, which enables read out of two different regions of interest with different exposure times. The ORCA Flash4.0 LT is equipped with the latest generation II sCMOS technology having a spatial resolution of 2048x2048pixels (6.5µm pixel size) and a very low readout noise of 1.5 electrons rms.
High strength epoxy does not contain antimony
Engineered Material Systems is pleased to debut its 535-11M-7 UV cured epoxy, which has been developed to pass the rigorous reliability requirements in disk drive, camera module, photonics and circuit assembly applications. The non-conductive UV cured adhesive is low outgassing, flexible, high strength and does not contain antimony and cures rapidly when exposed to high intensity UV light.
LASER World of PHOTONICS focuses on biophotonics
Biophotonics and medical engineering will again be centre stage at the LASER World of PHOTONICS, which takes place from 22nd to 25th June at the Messe München site.
MTA 2015 to tackle 3D printing, robotics & manufacturing automation
Faced with challenges from rising costs, growing competition and the need to raise productivity, manufacturers have begun assuming greater technological leadership, especially in converging high-end manufacturing equipment with next-generation ICT. These technological advances in automation, robotics and 3D printing are on show at MTA2015 - The Precision Engineering Industry Event.
