Integrated solution for centimetre-level positioning applications
u-blox has announced the results of its collaboration with Korean broadcast media company MBC. With assistance from u-blox, MBC has launched an ultra-compact L1/L2 Real Time Kinematic (RTK) multi-band device, the MBC MRP-2000,featuring a u-blox ZED-F9Phigh precision GNSS module. The solution is the first to offer the Korean market a GNSS RTK receiver and wireless access to a GNSS correction service in a single box.
Future technologies and the impact on mobile work forces
When asked to rate the importance of technology trends for use by their mobile workforce, buyers rated Big Data (52%) the most important, closely followed by IoT (51%) and sensor technologies (41%), including atmosphere, temperature and biological sensors. The main drivers for the technologies were improved business efficiency and productivity.
Ammunition ready to adapt for needs of drone manufacturers
It has been announced that Techmash, (part of Rostec), is ready to adapt ammunition to meet the needs of drone manufacturers. Companies of the concern produce a wide range of air ammunition, such as aerial bombs whose weight ranges between 2.5 and 50kg.
Kick-start advanced innovations for efficient smart objects
By adding the new STM32G0 microcontrollers (MCUs) to the STM32 family, STMicroelectronics is stretching the portfolio of Arm Cortex-M-core MCUs to more thoroughly cover key embedded-market segments. The new G0 series targets entry-level applications that require greater energy efficiency, functionality, security, and value, in a smaller footprint.
Creating the next-generation of robotics
There is no doubting that robots are on the rise. And despite some naysayers claiming that automation will take jobs away from humans, all the evidence points to robotics improving productivity, cost effectiveness, safety and actually creating employment. By next year it is predicted that the number of industrial robots deployed worldwide will increase to around 2.6 million units.
Successful maiden flight for drone mounted Satellite Simulator
Well known for its innovative approach to satellite communications off-air testing, Atlantic Microwave has announced the maiden flight of its DSS Satellite Simulator product on board an eight rotor drone. Not only is this a first ever airborne Satellite Simulator but it is the first time in history that an unmanned aerial vehicle has been deployed in such a task.
Wearable-ready SoC combines sound and vision for IoT
Opportunities to create smarter IoT devices have been given a boost by RS Components’ introduction of the Sony SPRESENSE, featuring Arm Cortex-M4F performance and extensive sensing, audio, and imaging capabilities. The low-power SPRESENSE platform, comprising a 50.0mm x 20.6mm main board and 68.6mm x 53.3mm extension board, combines the Sony CXD5602 system-on-chip (SoC) for wearable electronics, and the CXD5247 power-management and audio IC...
