Key ASIC deploys Synopsys' Design Compiler Graphical solution
Synopsys has announced that Key ASIC has deployed the Synopsys Design Compiler Graphical RTL synthesis solution to accelerate SoC design. Achieving high performance, low power and small die size results are primary objectives for Key ASIC to enable quick and cost-effective tapeouts. After a comprehensive evaluation of available synthesis solutions, Key ASIC found the most appropriate tool combination for their design needs is Design Compiler Grap...
SoCs enable MFPs to print documents from mobile devices
A series of integrated SoCs that enable a new generation of workgroup MultiFunction Printers to seamlessly print documents from mobile devices, the cloud and traditional PCs and servers with high speed and excellent quality has been released by CSR.
DC/DC buck converter offers reduced EMI/EMC & PMBus
Texas Instruments has introduced the industry’s first 20 and 30A synchronous DC/DC buck converters with frequency synchronisation for low-noise and reduced EMI/EMC and a PMBus interface for Adaptive Voltage Scaling (AVS).Used in conjunction with TI’s award-winning WEBENCHonline design tools, the converters simplify power conversion and speed the power supply design process.
FPGAs power printer's image processing capabilities
Alterahas announced that Ricoh Grouphas chosen Altera CycloneIV FPGAsto power its recently introduced line of printers, the RICOH SP 3600DN Series. Altera’s Cyclone IV FPGAs power the image processing capability of the RICOH SP 3600 Series printers, helping implement features such as 1200dpi image quality improvements, serial print speeds, and fast print speed.
ROHM Semiconductor acquires Powervation
ROHM has completed the acquisition of Powervation, a developer of digital power management SoC solutions, for approximately $70m in an all-cash transaction. Combining Powervation’s Intelligent Digital Power platform with ROHM’s leading analogue power technology and global market access will enable a range of fast growing market opportunities, as customers increasingly adopt digital power solutions to power next-gen high density system...
FPGA-based reference design doubles NAND Flash life
Based on the company's Arria 10 SoCs, a storage reference design that doubles the life of NAND flash has been introduced by Altera. It can also increase the number of programme-erase cycles by up to seven times compared to current NAND flash implementations.
PoL DC/DC converters offer efficiencies as high as 95%
Murata has announced three additions to its Okami OKR series of single output, non-isolated PoL DC/DC converters. Constructed in a space efficient SIP format, these compact devices use the latest synchronous buck technology to deliver outstanding thermal performance, high power density, and efficiencies as high as 95%.
Low pressure sensors have a maximum load pressure of 100kPa
Fujikura has released the digital AL4 series of gauge low pressure sensors for volume production. With a footprint of 11.36x10.32mm, the series is smaller than other low sensors. It also features an SMT pin configuration and a high total accuracy of ±1.5% FSO within a compensated temperature range from 0 to +50°C.
Renishaw opens new Slovenian research facility at the University of Ljubljana
Renishaw is pleased to announce the creation of Renishaw Tehnični Inženiring d.o.o., a new research and development organisation which is located within the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. The new facility was formally opened on June 16th by Sir David McMurtry, Renishaw's Chairman and Chief Executive, who co-founded the company in 1973.
Bluetooth Smart controller supports Bluetooth 4.1
Supporting Bluetooth 4.1, the EM9301 power Bluetooth Smart controller has been introduced by EM Microelectronic. The device is suitable for implementing Bluetooth Smart with any MCU, ASIC or electronic system and consumes only 9µA in BLE idle state, and less than 0.5µA in OFF mode.
