A space-/power-saving alternative to D²PAK & DPAK
Vishay Intertechnology has introduced an 8x8x1.8mm PowerPAK 8x8L package designed to provide a high-current, space- and power-saving alternative to D²PAK and DPAK devices commonly used in automotive applications. The SQJQ402E 40V TrenchFET MOSFET is claimed to be the industry's first AEC-Q101-qualified MOSFET to use this 8x8mm footprint and the first in an 8x8mm package with gull-wing leads for mechanical stress relief.
What are the major technical challenges for EVs?
Mustafa Dinc, Global Director, Automotive Business Development, Vishay Intertechnology, looks at what EV designers need to address in terms of power management and component design.
Ultra-low capacitance ESD protection diode saves board space
Vishay has released a Bidirectional Symmetrical (BiSy) single-line ESD protection diode for portable electronics in the ultra-compact CLP0603 package. Measuring only 0.6x0.3x0.27mm, the VBUS05B1-SD0 offers ultra-low capacitance and leakage current for the protection of high-speed data lines and antennas against transient voltage signals.
Wet tantalum capacitor is DLA approved for avionics
Approved to Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) drawing 15005, a tantalum-cased wet tantalum capacitor with a glass-to-tantalum hermetic seal has been introduced by Vishay. For avionics and aerospace systems, the device is claimed to be the industry's first wet tantalum capacitor approved to DLA 15005 to combine a reverse voltage of 1.5V at +85°C with improved vibration (sine: 50g; random: 27.7g) capability and thermal shock of 300 cycles.
MOSFET extends battery life in portable applications
Vishay Intertechnology has introduced a TrenchFET 20V n-channel MOSFET which is claimed to provide the industry's lowest on-resistance for any 20V device in the compact 1mm square footprint. The device is designed to save space, decrease power consumption and extend battery usage in wearable devices, smartphones, tablets and SSDs.
MLCCs operate up to +150°C
Designed for automotive applications, the VJ....31X series of MLCCs has been introduced by Vishay Intertechnology. Available with C0G, X7R and X8R dielectrics, in six body sizes ranging from 0402 to1812, the devices offer high voltages and high-temperature operation of up to +150°C for increased reliability.
Sidewall pattern enhances custom thin film substrate
Adding a sidewall patterning capability to its custom thin film substrate offering, Vishay Intertechnology can now provide conductive patterning on up to four surfaces with compact line width and gap dimensions, increasing design flexibility and density for miniaturisation in military, aerospace, medical and telecomms equipment.
Convert solar UV light intensity to digital data
Featuring Filtron UV technology for high UV sensitivity and linearity, an integrated UV light sensor has been announced by Vishay Intertechnology. The VEML6070incorporates a photo-pin-diode and signal processing IC with an I²C bus interface for simple operation in order to convert solar UV light intensity to digital data in consumer, medical, and industrial applications.
Dual inductor is first to operate up to +155°C
Offering two inductors in one 4032 package, Vishay Intertechnology has announced that the automotive-grade IHLD-4032KB-5A is the industry's first dual inductor to operate up to +155°C. The device is optimised for automotive and commercial class D amplifier circuits, where it reduces board space requirements and offers improved performance compared to multiple discrete inductors.
Free IoT seminars focus on sensors and networking
Forecasters say the Internet of Things (IoT) market will be worth between $7trn and $9trn by 2020. That is exciting chip makers and their distributors. Rutronik is keen to promote its activities on behalf of its suppliers and is rolling out a series of one-day seminars which will embrace networking with sensor developments, two technologies driving many developments related to the Internet of Things (IoT).
