Semtech LoRa platform chosen for its long range performance
Semtech Corporation has announced that LoRa wireless RF technology has been selected by Schneider Electric. Schneider Electric selected Semtech’s LoRa RF technology because its long-range capability solves many system installation challenges, it is very energy efficient and it is compatible with legacy systems and standards, speeding up the installation process and minimising infrastructure costs.
Creating the internet of low power things
Reducing power consumption is a major challenge facing the IoT. Steve Rogerson looks at the techniques being employed. Some extremely large figures have been bandied around for the number of devices that will eventually make up the Internet-of-Things as research companies try to outdo each other in their predictions.
Semtech & Proximus launch LoRa network in the low countries
Semtech Corporation has announced its LoRa RF technology is being deployed by Proximus for a nationwide low-power wide-area network (LPWAN). Proximus is the largest telecoms operator in Belgium and Luxembourg and has partnered with LPWAN solutions provider Actility for the deployment.
Pioneering the Internet of Things in Czech Republic
České Radiokomunikace (ČRa) has selected the LoRa wireless RF technology from Semtech Corporation as the RF platform for the company’s first Internet of Things (IoT)-based pilot programme. Working with network partners RWE GasNet and Softlink, ČRa has developed a LoRa-based solution that was tested in the spring of 2015 and has now been launched in select markets.
Wireless network system for end-to-end automation
Device Solutions announced the availability of its latest Cellio LoRa long-range low-power wireless network system for end-to-end automation and instrumentation in Factories, Farms, Warehouses, Transportation, Agriculture and many other industries.
Wireless modules agreement links LPRS, LinkLabs
The LoRarange of wireless modules and gateways from Washington, DC-based LinkLabs will be distributed by LPRS (Low Power Radio Solutions) under a new agreement between the two companies. Link Labs has developed novel methods for communicating with multiple wireless devices at long range, and with low power consumption using the LoRanetworking protocol LoRaWAN.
Semtech to help Swisscom participants build compelling IoT solutions
Semtech Corporation has announced its planned participation in Swisscom’s first IoT hackathon in Zürich on 6th-8th November at Impact Hub Zürich. Semtech will assist competitors in the 40-hour hackathon competition by providing instruction on the use of its LoRa RF long range wireless technology platform, which includes the tools participants need to build low-power, wide-area networks (LPWAN) to enable compelling IoT, M2M and sma...
DSPs address multi-mode connectivity for M2M & IoT
CEVA has introduced two power- and cost-optimised communication processors designed to address the growing demand for multi-mode connectivity solutions for M2M applications and the IoT. The CEVA-XC5 and CEVA-XC8 DSP vector processors are the smallest and most power-efficient members of the CEVA-XC architecture, supporting the full range of emerging cellular protocols such as LTE MTC Cat-1, Cat-0 or Cat-M, as well as the suite of LPWAN standards s...
Orange selects Semtech LoRa RF technology for LPWAN
Semtech has revealed that Orange, one of the largest mobile network operators in the world, has selected its LoRa RF technology for a LPWAN (Low-Power, Wide-Area Network) scheduled to deploy in the first quarter of 2016. Orange will use the LoRa LPWAN to connect low power sensors to mainly 'smart city' applications across France.
