Power supply module has high stability and low noise
Hamamatsu Photonics K.K. has announced the development of the world’s smallest high-voltage power supply (HVPS) module with high stability and low noise. The new HVPS module (part number: C14210-14) is less than half the size and weight of Hamamatsu’s conventional product. Its miniaturisation was made possible by a newly developed proprietary manufacturing process for layering high isolation circuits on high voltage circuits.
Study highlights PCB technology changes expected by 2021
A global study published this month by IPC – Association Connecting Electronics Industries, is now available. The survey-based study,PCB Technology Trends 2016,shows how printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturers are meeting today’s technology demands and looks at the changes expected by 2021 that will affect the whole industry.
Battery connectors suited to industrial applications
Manufacturer and supplier of passive components and interconnect solutions, AVX, has released the new 9155-700 series 2mm-pitch right angle board-to-board battery connectors, which are rated for 125VAC, up to 2A, and 5,000-cycle durability. The connectors have been designed to provide miniaturised, mechanically stable, high-integrity connections in harsh environment applications subject to high shock and vibration.
Rehm ups testing capability at its Technology Centre
In order to be able to more closely inspect the quality directly after the printing or painting process, two new inspection systems of the TROI series from Pemtron are now in use at the Rehm Technology Centre in Blaubeuren. In Germany, the Korean equipment manufacturer is distributed by ANS answer elektronik.

Wireless power could enable ingestible electronics
Researchers at MIT, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and the Charles Stark Draper Laboratory have devised a way to wirelessly power small electronic devices that can linger in the digestive tract indefinitely after being swallowed. Such devices could be used to sense conditions in the gastrointestinal tract, or carry small reservoirs of drugs to be delivered over an extended period.
Patented technology takes silicon capacitors into demanding applications
An innovative and disruptive technology is at the heart of a new range of silicon capacitors from Murata*, now available at RS Components. The patented technology from Murata Integrated Passive Solutions enables the integration of a wide range of capacitor values in silicon, allowing the range to be used in many applications that require high performance and miniaturisation.
MID offer advantages for connection technology
A new and welcome addition to conventional printed circuit boards, are the 3D moulded interconnect devices, from Multiple Dimensions, which are particularly well suited to Industry 4.0 applications. The example of a smoke detector illustrates how design and functional integration are simplified with this technology.
Sir Patrick Stewart boldly goes into the metrology future
The man who piloted the Starship Enterprise was given a glimpse of the scientific future at the University of Huddersfield.Famous actor Sir Patrick Stewart – who played Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation on TV and film – is Emeritus Chancellor at the University. On his latest visit, he worked closely with young actors and film studies students, but he was also shown some of the scientific and technological research taki...
DC/DC converters for PoE achieve miniatursation and isolation
Murata has announced the launch of the MYBSP series of miniature surface-mount isolated DC/DC converters designed for driving Power over Ethernet (PoE) applications. These regulated devices can be used as a power converter for a range of network devices including wireless access points, network security cameras and IP telephones.
