Thin film PZT promises piezoelectric performance
Yole Développement has identified a growing interest for thin film PZT in the semiconductor industry, due to its very promising piezoelectric properties. For example, Epson has released its second generation inkjet head based on thin film PZT for small office applications, proving the maturity of the technology.
Place and route tool accelerates turn-around-time
Panasonic’s LSI Business Division has achieved first time working silicon using the Synopsys IC Compiler II designed for high-performance multimedia design in 40-nm technology. Compiler II offers 5X faster design implementation that enables faster turn-around-time for large partitions. It has the ability to seamlessly handle more modes and corners drastically improves signoff convergence and reduces ECO iterations.
Automotive audio bus enables transceiver to deliver 50Mb/s
Capable of distributing audio and control data together with clock and power over a single, unshielded twisted-pair wire, a digital audio bus technology has been introduced by Analog Devices. Providing improved vehicle fuel efficiency while delivering high-fidelity audio, the Automotive Audio Bus (A²B) reduces the weight of existing cable harnesses.
Trio displays Mini EtherCAT master controlling 12 Drives from different manufacturers on one network
At this year’s sps/ipc/drives exhibition Trio Motion Technology will showcase its full range of Motion Coordinator high performance motion and machine controls. Special emphasis is on the MC4N ECAT Mini EtherCAT master controlling 12 drives from different manufacturers on one network in Hall 3, Stand 449.
Imaging industry entering maturing phase
“The last months have been very active in term of mergers and acquisitions in the CMOS image sensor (CIS) business”, comments Yole Développement (Yole)...
Laser diodes feature stable power output
A pair of new single-chip dual-wavelength red/infrared laser diodes that offer high output characteristics in a compact size has been introduced by RS Components. Manufactured by Panasonic the devices are ideal for use in optical disk drives, barcode readers and many sensing-based applications such as laser distance sensors for industrial use, or flow cytometers in biomedical applications.
