Quantum 2.0 could revolutionise computing and communications
“The potential impact of Quantum technology is absolutely profound,” said Professor Neil Stansfield, Head of Excellence for Technology Innovation at the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory, at last week’s CW (Cambridge Wireless) Technology and Engineering Conference (CW TEC) 2016.
Toshiba to demo big data analytic platform technology
At this week’s 2016 Flash Memory Summit in Santa Clara, USA, Toshiba Electronics Europe will demonstrate Flashmatrix, an all-flash big data analytic platform. Flashmatrix is well suited for the growing need for real time/streaming analytics in distributed systems targeted at high data intensive applications in manufacturing, finance, medical and security.
BLE & NFC combo module consumes zero power in standby mode
Designed for implementing Bluetooth functionality into various electronic devices, Panasonic Automotive & Industrial Systems Europe announces a short-range, BLE and NFC combo module. The cost-effective PAN1761 series is based on a leading edge Toshiba SoC and supports both BLE functionality v4.1 and NFC through a NFC Forum Type 3 compliant tag.
64-layer 3D flash memory features stacked cell structure
Toshiba unveiled today the latest generation of its BiCS FLASH 3D flash memory with a stacked cell structure, a 64-layer device that will be first in the world to start sample shipments today. The new device incorporates 3-bit-per-cell (Triple-Level Cell, TLC) technology and achieves a 256Gb (32GB) capacity, an advance that underscores the potential of Toshiba’s proprietary architecture.
Toshiba and Western Digital open new fab in Japan
Toshiba and Western Digital have just celebrated the opening of the New Fab 2 semiconductor fabrication facility located in Yokkaichi, Mie Prefecture, Japan which is designed to support the conversion of the companies’ 2D NAND capacity to 3D flash memory, allowing realisation of solutions offering higher densities and better device performance.
LED driver IC helps to reduce the size of LED modules
Toshiba Electronics Europe has introduced a 9-channel output LED driver IC that will save board space and reduce the size of LED modules in a variety of lighting and illumination applications. The TB62D786FTG has a single-wire Manchester-encoded interface, which is often used for wireless communication. Built-in daisy-chain pins and a 5V output LDO, capable of handling inputs from 7 to 28V, improve the extendibility of the IC.
Power amplifier IC enables better car audio quality
Designed for automotive audio applications, Toshiba Electronics Europe has introduced a 49W-per-channel power amplifier IC. The four-channel TCB501HQprovides high output power and low distortion and detects output offset voltage.
