University's 5G mmWave test platform gets help from NI
5G is having and will continue to have an impact on wireless communications. It has spurred the Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG) at the University of Warwick to upgrade its lab to include 5G mmWave technology. This advance has been possible because of a WMG Centre HVM Catapult award and equipment collaboration from NI (National Instruments).
A look into the future of connection technology
In Velden (Austria), AT&S has presented technologies and trends in connection solutions at the 14th AT&S Technology Forum. Numerous interested customers were able to find out about the latest developments in the electronics and printed circuit board industry for areas such as mobile devices, automotive, industrial, communications and medical technology and to exchange views with the AT&S experts.
An octal wideband transceiver (MIMO) with UltraScale+ FPGA
VadaTech has announced the AMC588, a wideband transceiver in AMC form factor. The AMC utilises four AD9371 connected to a Virtex UltraScale+FPGA providing eight transceivers channels. The modules are suitable for SDR, SATCOM, 3G/4G micro and macro BTS, antenna systems, research and instrumentation. The AD9371 supports TDD and FDD operation, with a frequency range of 300MHzto 6GHzcovering most licensed and unlicensed cellular bands.
WavePro HD oscilloscopes capture every detail up to 8GHz
Teledyne LeCroy has announced the WavePro HD high-definition oscilloscopes, which combine for the first time HD4096 12-bit technology and 8GHz bandwidth for low noise and pristine signal fidelity. With a maximum of 5 Gpoints of fast, responsive, and easily navigable acquisition memory, also an industry first, WavePro HD oscilloscopes also acquire extremely fine waveform details over long periods of time. A deep, powerful toolset quickly exposes u...
Software options cut cost of 5G NR testing
Five 5G measurement software options have been released by Anritsu for its MS2850A Signal Analyser. The five new software options are compliant with the 3GPP 5G standards (5G NR hereafter) and used for measuring the RF Tx characteristics of next-generation 5G base stations and mobile terminals.
SSDs feature BiCS FLASH 64-layer 3D flash memory
Toshiba Memory Europe GmbH has added to its portfolio of solid-state drives (SSDs) for the data centre a new line-up of 3D flash memory-based PCI ExpressNVMe and SATA SSDs in multiple form factors. The new CD5, XD5 and HK6-DC SSDs enable infrastructure managers to address performance and workload demands by offering robust performance and reliability with lower operating power for read-intensive applications such as NoSQL databases, big data anal...
Software packages support LTE Cat-M1, NB-IoT designs
Multiple software packages for its Radio Communications Analyser MT8821C that support emerging LTE Category M1 (LTE Cat-M1) and Narrowband IoT (NB-IoT) designs have been released by Anritsu. The LTE Cat-M1 and NB-IoT support expands the test capability of the MT8821C, and provides IoT-terminal and chipset manufacturers as well as communications operators with an all-in-one solution that can speed development of IoT devices.
Qseven Computer-on-Modules are energy efficient and powerful
Kontron has announced for the first time two new modules in the Qseven form factor at embedded world 2018. Depending on the requirements, the Qseven-Q7AL module is available with Intel Atom, Pentium or Celeron processors, the Qseven-Q7AMX7 module uses the Cortex A7 processor. Both modules support the Qseven 2.1 specifications and are designed for use in industrial environments and at extreme temperatures.
