EDA Solutions and Europractice to host mixed-signal ASIC design training seminars at DATE 2008
EDA Solutions and the Fraunhofer Institute, one of the Europractice Support Centres, will co-host a program of training seminars on Europractice design kits for the latest version of Tanner Tools at DATE 2008. The practical training sessions, to be held on Wednesday 12 March 2008, will give a hands-on introduction to the design kits and Tanner Tools Pro. They are free of charge and open to all those with an interest in analog and mixed-signal ASI...
Two join EDA's customer support team
EDA Solutions, exclusive European agents for Tanner EDA tools and MOSIS multi-project wafer services, has added to its sales and technical support teams with two new staff appointments. This follows a doubling of its Tanner EDA business in Europe over the last 3 years.
EDA Solutions Announces Mixed-Signal ASIC Design Workshops for Incentia and Tanner EDA Design Tools in Germany, Belgium and UK
EDA Solutions announced a series of workshops in Germany, Belgium and the UK, on mixed-signal ASIC design, based on advanced ASIC design tools from Incentia and Tanner.
Tensilica - New DSP Engine Combines Outstanding Performance, Compact Size, and Easy Programmability
Tensilica has introduced the high-performance, small, low-power ConnX D2 16-bit dual-MAC (Multiply Accumulator) DSP (Digital Signal Processor) engine for its proven Xtensa LX dataplane processor cores for SOC (System-on-Chip) designs. The ConnX D2 DSP engine provides uncompromised performance from C code, unlike many other DSPs that require time consuming assembly coding for maximum performance. This means that virtually any C program, including ...
Smallest licensable 32-bit processor core from Tensilica
Tensilica has introduced the industry’s smallest licensable 32-bit processor core based on an industry-standard architecture. The new Diamond Standard 106Micro core takes up only 0.26 mm2 in a 130-nm G process and only 0.13 mm2 in a 90-nm G process, which makes it smaller than the ARM7 or Cortex-M3 cores, yet at 1.22 Dhrystone MIPS/MHz, it delivers higher performance than the ARM9E cores.
STMicroelectronics Announces 32nm Design Platform for Next-Generation System-on-Chip ICs for Networking Applications
STMicroelectronics announced full availability of a 32-nanometer (nm) technology platform for the design and development of leading-edge application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) for networking applications. Central to the new 32nm SoC design platform, which implements ST’s 32LPH (Low-Power High-performance) process technology, is the industry’s first Serializer-Deserializer (SerDes) IP available in 32nm ‘bulk’ silicon.
NMI membership increases by 50% in a year
The National Microelectronics institute (NMI), the trade association representing the semiconductor industry in the UK and Ireland, has announced a 50% increase in its membership in little over a year. The University of Southampton has just become the NMI’s 150th member.
Handbook gives tips on private equity investment
The National Microelectronics Institute (NMI) has published a private equity investment handbook for semiconductor start-ups. Featuring a series of articles from successful UK silicon entrepreneurs and specialist venture capital investors, it aims to provide readers with a real-world insight into the major aspects of the fund-raising process. The handbook is free to download from www.nmi.org
Ubidyne chooses Toshiba for wireless infrastructure SoC development
Ubidyne, a leader in digital antenna embedded radio technology for wireless communications, has employed Toshiba's TC300 90nm technology in the development of its D2.0 SoC (system on chip) digital up/down converter. The programme used a hybrid design flow that combined ASIC and COT (customer-owned tooling) methodologies to enable Ubidyne to concentrate on system design and the development of its own custom designed, high-speed, digital IP blocks ...
