EPCOS MMKP capacitors employ a metallised film
Two series of EPCOS MMKP capacitors, which employ a film that is metallised on both sides, have been released by TDK. The capacitors offer particularly high pulse strength as well as a high current capability. Depending on the type and frequency, the permissible current can be up to more than 10ARMS.
Multilayer varistors boast high surge current capability
TDK presents its high-surge series of EPCOS multilayer varistors, characterised by their high surge current capability, ranging from one surge of up to 5000A to ten surges of up to 3500A, with a pulse of 8/20µs and an operating voltage of up to 65VDC. The SMD components are available in case sizes EIA1210 through EIA2220 and require less space than wired types or semiconductor-based solutions, while offering the same performance and reliabi...
60A non-isolated POL converters feature PMBus
TDK Corporation introduces the TDK-Lambda iJB series of 60A non-isolated SMT DC/DC converters for high current applications. These compact POL modules offer an high power density and operating efficiency from light to full load conditions; they are PMBusread- and write-compliant and digitally controlled, allowing for a great deal of flexibility and customisation.
TDK supports sixth form STEM project
TDK is pleased to announce that TDK-Lambda UK is again supporting sixthform Diploma students at The Ilfracombe Academy with a new STEM project. Developing skills and practicing scientific practical techniques is core to the Applied Science curriculum. The unit involves students in a range of practical sessions, which involves the analysis and separation of substances and the use of various high-tech test and measurement instruments and sensors.
Hardwearing automotive MLCCs offer stable capacitances
TDK Corporation has announced the introduction of high temperature resistant MLCCs with soft terminations, expanding its CGA series of MLCCs for automotive applications. These components employ electrodes made of conductive resins that provide effective protection against solder cracks caused by thermal cycling, flex cracks caused by stress to the PCB, and damage due to vibrations and shocks
Rugged power inductor series expanded for automotive use
TDK Corporation has expanded its CLF-NI-D series of rugged power inductors for use in automotive electronics. The CLF7045NI-D wirewound SMD power inductors feature high efficiency and reliability over a temperature range of -55 to +150°C and offer rated inductance values from 1.0 to 470μH (E6 series). The CLF7045NI-D types are available for rated currents of 0.41 to 8.5A and offer DC resistance values ranging from 9mΩ to 1.20Ω.
Multilayer power inductors suit mobile NFC applications
TDK Corporation has expanded its portfolio of multilayer power inductors with the MLJ1608 high-performance series. Complementing the existing MLF1608 series of multilayer power inductors for signal lines, the MLJ1608 series was designed for use in near field communications and power line applications, especially in smartphones, tablets and NFC modules.
TDK employees embark on charity bike ride
TDK Corporation is pleased to announce that two TDK-Lambda UK employees will be embarking on a charity cycle ride from John O’Groats to Land’s End. Starting on June 19th 2015, the two riders aim to complete the 916 mile endeavor in nine days. All money raised will go to Cancer Research UK.
Service life calculation tool supports online design
The EPCOS FilmCap Service Life Calculation Tool, recently released by TDK, is a tool for supporting online design. The integral database contains about 250 EPCOS film capacitors from the B3267 and B3277 series for the DC link circuits of converters. This powerful tool enables as many as 10 load profiles to be entered at one time, calculated and stored, if desired, for later use.
ASE & TDK to manufacture IC embedded substrates
Advanced Semiconductor Engineering (ASE) and TDK have announced that they will enter into an agreement to establish a joint venture company to manufacture IC embedded substrates using TDK's Semiconductor Embedded SUBstrate (SESUB) technology. ASE and TDK plan to own 51% and 49%, respectively, of the newly created entity. The indicative name of the joint venture company will be ASE Embedded Electronics, and its manufacturing facility is planned to...
