Rapid Correction of Errors in Automobiles Thanks to DIANA Research Project
From 2015 onwards, the time that automobiles will need to spend in the repair shop could be significantly decreased. This will be possible thanks to joint research work undertaken by AUDI, Continental, Infineon Technologies and ZMDI. In the DIANA project, the companies have focused their research on ways of improving the analytical and diagnostic ability in electronic control units (ECUs) in vehicles. In three years of research under Infineon&rsq...
EU FP7 continues to support Europractice IC services
Imec, together with its partners STFC and Fraunhofer IIS, have today announced that the European Commission has pledged to continue funding the Europractice IC services for another 3 years under the FP7 program. Europractice IC services also supports companies in the assembly and testing phase. Over the next three years, the service will expand its offering from ASIC services to prototyping possibilities in MEMS and photonics-related technologies...
Finisar partner with u2t
Finisar and u2t unveil that they have entered into a memorandum of understanding with respect to exclusive access to and joint development of all Indium-Phosphide based Mach-Zehnder modulator technology developed at the Fraunhofer Heinrich-Hertz-Institute. With this transaction, Finisar and u2t obtain immediate and exclusive access to HHI high speed InP modulators, including polarization multiplexed I-Q modulators for 100G coherent applications.
The light industrial & commercial EV business will exceed $20b by 2023

Altair organized a technical session and a round table discussion on the topic “Technology Symbiosis Topology Optimization and ALM (Additive Layer Manufacturing)”, also known as 3D printing, on April 23rd in Turin as part of the European Altair Technology Conference.
Commercial traffic can open the door to electromobility
Despite numerous initiatives, electromobility has yet to achieve a major breakthrough in the area of passenger vehicles. Has the industry been focusing on the wrong market? When compared with private passenger cars, e-mobility is already very attractive for commercial vehicles, says Professor Martin Wietschel of the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI in Karlsruhe.
Intelligent LED headlamps will make nighttime driving safer
Research project focuses on adaptive forward lighting systems to increase driver and passenger safety. Adaptive forward lighting, in other words, glare-free camera-controlled headlamps that react instantly to changing conditions at night, will be helping to keep drivers and their passengers safer, as a consortium of high-tech automotive heavyweights design and build additional intelligent functions. The key to this complex functionality is the i...
Image Processing For OLED-On-Silicon Sensors
For some time Fraunhofer COMEDD integrates organic light emitting diodes (OLED) in combination with sensor devices in silicon. Thus we are able to develop various customized sensor applications. These sensors can be used e. g. in industry, medicine or the biotechnology sector. The processing of the resulting data is essential for the use of these sensors in the different fields of applications.
