The touchscreen is available with either PCAPor IntelliTouch Plus surface acoustic wave touch technologies.
Imaging systems conference to be held at SEMICON Europa 2014
To address the rising demands of imaging systems in mobile, medical, automotive and other technology applications, the Imaging Without Limits Conference (7th to 8th October) will be introduced at SEMICON Europa this year to address this surging market.Covering a broad range of imaging systems, the two-day conference will explore the promise of imaging-related systems, existing applications and new applications and technologies now on the horizon.
Lantiq are developing broadband access network FTTdp
A broadband access network called Fibre-To-The-Distribution Point (FTTdp) is being developed, it has been announced. This concept calls for running optical fibre to a distribution point that can be flexibly installed relatively close to the customer premise. The existing copper infrastructure is utilised to complete the access line to and within the building.
Fiber-optic sensor system leads way toward smart composites
Imec, Ghent University, and their partners in the European FP7 project SMARTFIBER have demonstrated the world’s first miniaturised fiber-optical sensor system than can be fully embedded in a composite material. This leads the way toward smart composites that enable continued and automatic monitoring of the structural health of the composite material in -for example- tidal blades, wind turbines, airplanes (fuselage, wings) or marine structur...
X-FAB Expands MEMS Manufacturing Capabilities
X-FAB Silicon Foundries has announced it has reached a major milestone in further expanding its MEMS manufacturing capabilities in two of its German locations, Erfurt and Itzehoe. Driven by increased customer demand for MEMS manufacturing services, the expansion includes two new dedicated MEMS fabs with cleanroom space totaling more than 2,000 m2.
