Infineon Technologies Leads Industrial Semiconductor Vendor Share Ranking in 2011
According to the latest analysis from Semicast Research, Infineon Technologies was the leading semiconductor vendor to the industrial sector in 2011, ahead of Texas Instruments and STMicroelectronics. Revenues for semiconductors in the industrial sector have increased by more than fifty per cent in the last two years, to USD 32.4 billion in 2011, with highest revenue growth for analog ICs, LEDs and power discretes.
Extreme Results in Top 25 2011 Semiconductor Sales Ranking!
Although only 2% growth was registered in the worldwide semiconductor market (including ICs and Optoelectronics, Sensors, and Discretes; O-S-Ds) in 2011, several companies posted results that were far different (Figure 1). Boosted by its acquisition of Sanyo’s semiconductor business, ON Semiconductor registered a 49% sales increase last year and moved into the top 25 ranking for the first time!
Ansys Subsidiary Apache Design Launches Rtl Power Model, Enabling Early Planning And Accelerating Ultra-Low-Power Design Delivery
ANSYS subsidiary Apache Design Inc. launched RTL Power Model a first-in-class innovative technology designed to optimize a wide range of power-sensitive applications, such as ultra-low-power electronics. RPM bridges the power gap from register-transfer-language (RTL) design to physical implementation. The new technology accurately predicts integrated circuit (IC) power behavior at the RTL level with consideration for how the design is physically ...
Mentor Graphics Calibre PERC Programmable Electrical Rule Checker Improves Fujitsu Chip Reliability
Mentor Graphics Corporation today announced that Fujitsu Semiconductor Limited is now using the Calibre® PERC product for electrical rules checks that improve the correctness and reliability of its IC designs before committing to manufacturing. The product, which automates electrical checks based on user-defined rules, is designed to address customers’ need to improve reliability by identifying areas of vulnerability to catastrophic electrical...
M/A-COM Technology Solutions - Two Front End Integrated Circuits Integrated front end ICs for
M/A-COM Technology Solutions introduced today two new Front End Integrated Circuits (FEICs). The XZ1003-QT and XZ1004-QT are fully integrated, monolithic, FEICs for Multi Media over Coax Alliance (MoCA) mid-band and high-band RF applications. Both devices are fully compatible with Entropic Communications c.Link MoCA RF transceivers.
TE Circuit Protection Introduces New Low-Resistance, High-Current Reflowable Thermal Protection (RTP) Device
TE Circuit Protection announces the RTP200R060SA device, the latest in the series of Reflowable Thermal Protection (RTP) devices that offer a convenient, cost-effective alternative to typical thermal fuses. RTP devices help protect against thermal-runaway damage caused by MOSFETS, capacitors, ICs, resistors and other power components that can crack and fail.
Industry’s First Green Midspans Cut Energy Dissipation on Network Cables in Half
Microsemi Corporation today announced its new high-efficiency Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) midspans at the Cisco Live London show. The new PoE devices reduce energy consumption on network cables by as much as 50 percent compared to alternative midspans and PoE network switches.
