PREMO & Wireless Technology through “Witech” radio module
Massive use of wireless devices in the 2.4 GHz band is producing what has been called the ISM Revolution. ISM mean: Industrial, Scientific and Medical. ISM bands are frequency bands of free use (portions of the radio-electric spectrum, for which no license is required). It doesn´t mean that the devices operating on ISM bands are exempt from the regulations governing the use of those bands, both from the standpoint of radio (power, channel, ...
OSRAM extends its LED product portfolio in the low-power range (< 1 W)
The new product family in the low-power range from OSRAM Opto Semiconductors starts with DURIS E 3. The small dimensions and wide beam angle of these new LEDs make them ideal for applications that require uniform illumination. These highly efficient LEDs can be used as replacements for conventional fluorescent lamps in T5 or T8 luminaires for example.
LED professional Symposium + Expo 2012 with additional Tech-Panels Early bird discount closes on June 30th
Although the development of LED lighting technology, especially with regard to efficacy and the production costs of semiconductors, has not yet been maximized, there is already a new technology standing at the ready: organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) – a technology that uses organic materials for illumination.
ERG’s New Smart Bridge Module Makes For An Easy Transition To LED Backlit LCD
Is your current LCD going end of life? Does the recommended replacement LCD have an LED backlight and a built-in driver? Are your current input signals incompatible with the new requirements? Would you like to make the LCD upgrade as seamless as possible? ERG’s Smart Bridge™ module resolves many of the problems users are currently experiencing – quickly, easily and economically – by using the system’s existing input power signals and co...
SANYO exits red and infrared laser diode production
Photonic Products Ltd, authorised distributor of SANYO laser diodes, has announced that, due to the recent merger between SANYO and Panasonic, SANYO will end production of its industrial red and infrared laser diodes at the end of September 30th 2010. The last time buy date for all affected product lines will be March 31st 2010.
LEDs Help Clamp-On Flashlight Deliver Wide Beam & Cordless Operation
The use of LUXEON Rebel LEDs in a clamp-on flashlight recently introduced by Stanley Hand Tools is beaming up big benefits over halogen versions, including a wider beam spread free of hot spots as well as the ability to operate cordlessly with a long battery run time because of low LED power consumption. Stanley used the engineering services of solid state solutions specialist Future Lighting Solutions to optimize the lighting system design.
Edison Opto Announces EdiPower®II HV series and a EdiPower®II Light Source Module—EDIS C
The Edison Opto has expanded its EdiPower®II product line to further increase choices for high voltage LEDs. The new EdiPower II-HV series delivers 710 to 1,300 operational lumens, two color temperatures including warm white and cool white are available, each with two different operating powers— 6-9W and 10-13W.
The multi-stage off line LED driver
Although it is relatively straightforward to design a basic LED driver for a general lighting application, it becomes far more complex when additional functionality such as phase cut dimming and power factor correction are also required. A non-dimming LED driver with no power factor correction generally consists of an off line switching power supply configured to regulate the output at a constant current. This is not much different from a standar...
The LED symposium, LpS, in Bregenz was a complete success
LEDs are the light source of the future and the future has already begun. At the LpS 2011 (LED professional Symposium 2011), over 700 participants from 34 countries met to discuss the complex subject of LEDs in lighting applications. Throughout the symposium it was obvious that the attendees and visitors as well as the 54 exhibitors were very impressed with the expert content, the expertise of their counterparts and the business impulses that rad...
