A new marketplace for smart lightweight solutions
A prominent role throughout every section of this year’s HANNOVER MESSE will be played throughout lightweight construction. However the show taking place 23-27th April will also see an Industrial Supply show taking place in Hall 5, which will serve as the primary showcase for this hot topic.
TUM and Fraunhofer expand cybersecurity research activities
The Fraunhofer Institute for Applied and Integrated Security (AISEC) celebrated a cornerstone ceremony on October 26, 2017, for a cybersecurity research centre at the Garching campus. Established in 2008, Fraunhofer AISEC is led by two professors from the Technical University of Munich (TUM): Prof. Claudia Eckert and Prof. Georg Sigl. The new facility will allow TUM and AISEC to further strengthen and expand upon their joint R&D activities in...
productronica sets a high standard in industry
Do you ever wonder where the electronics industry is heading? Well this year’s productronica was definitely a clear indication. The event which was held this week from 14th-17th November in Munich, provided answers to that question, as 1,200 exhibitors from 42 countries presented innovations from the fields of electronics production and development.
Higher processor performance with microchannel cooler
One of the limiting factors for the computing power of processors is the operating temperature. As part of the CarriCool project under the aegis of IBM, Fraunhofer researchers have developed a new, effective cooling method: By integrating microchannels into the silicon interposer it is for the first time possible to cool high-performance processors from the underside as well.
TMD to exhibit at the National Quantum Technologies Showcase 2017
TMD Technologies Limited (TMD) has been invited to exhibit at the forthcoming National Quantum Technologies Showcase in London on the 22nd November 2017.The invitation to attend this important event emphasises TMD’s innovative background and scientific expertise, and is a result of TMD’s collaboration with academic and ultra hi-tech industry partners to realise the commercialisation of quantum 2.0 technologies.
Additive manufacturing: the latest promise in production engineering
Additive manufacturing processes are the major topic for the future of production engineering. Applications range from producing machine parts of metal through to 3D printing of concrete. Two international symposia, currently taking place at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), illustrate the bandwidth of high-tech additive manufacturing, and give insight into the multifarious expertise existing at the TUM.
