Texas A&M team wins TI Innovation Challenge
The winners of the Texas Instruments Innovation Challenge North America Design Contest have been announced by Mouser Electronics. Top honours went to a team from Texas A&M University. Mouser is the exclusive sponsor of the contest, which encourages engineering students to invent real-world solutions by submitting design projects that use TI technology.
High-power connectors offer optimal solution
FORGE drawer modular power connectors from TE Connectivity (TE) are available at Mouser Electronics. This new tooling platform provides designers of power systems and electrical hardware a wide variety of configurations, providing engineers with more flexibility in design. With its selection of contacts and module configurations, FORGE drawer connectors make it easy and cost-effective for engineers to use the optimal power connect solution for a ...
IR array sensors boast improved accuracy
The second generation of Grid-EYE infrared (IR) array sensors from Panasonic is now being shipped by Mouser |Electronics. The sensors are fully compatible with first generation Grid-EYE sensors, and feature improved accuracy through an updated Noise Equivalent Temperature Difference (NETD) of 0.16 degrees Celsius at 10Hz and 0.05 degrees Celsius at 1 Hz with detection distance up to 7 meters.
ZigBee modules provide transmit power of 3.1mW
The Thread-ready Digi XBee S2D ZigBee modules are embedded radio frequency (RF) wireless modules that provide engineers with a simple migration path to quickly and easily incorporate into board designs. They are on sale at Mouser Electronics. The Thread protocol is a low-power, IPv6-addressable, self-healing mesh network with advanced security implemented at the networking layer.
North American sales and support centre opened by TRACO Power
To provide increased service levels to a growing customer base throughout not only the USA but also Canada and Mexico, TRACO Power North America opened a Silicon Valley office on 1st August 2016.
Sensors developed using ISO 26262 safety compliance
The AS5170 magnetic angular position sensors from ams are now available at Mouser Electronics. The devices are ams’ first magnetic position sensors fully developed using the automotive industry’s program for ISO 26262 safety compliance to meet the increasing demand for automotive safety features built into critical vehicle systems.
All on board for programming practice
The Circuit Playground from Adafruit is an all-in-one board which includes built-in sensors and LEDs. It offers an easy platform to practice programming on real hardware without the need to solder components in place. It is in stock at Mouser Electronics. The board is a round electronics platform with 14 alligator-clip pads for easy access to power and inputs and outputs (I/O).
PIM adapters conquer space, weight issues
The 4.3/10 series adapters from Amphenol RF are now in stock at Mouser Electronics. This low-passive intermodulation (PIM),highly stable connector family is offered in both between series and in-series configurations, and is ideally suited for space-restricted, high-density and weight-sensitive applications targeting the wireless communications industry.
Increasing productivity in industrial applications
Mark Patrick of Mouser Electronics discusses how implementing wireless connectivity through pre-certified wireless modules could represent the simplest solution to joining the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).
Next generation LEDS deliver 31 per cent more lumens
The XLap XP-G3 LEDs from Cree are the third generation of the XLamp XPG platform. The LEDs deliver 31 percent more lumens and 8 percent higher lumens-per-watt than the previous generation. Optimised for directional, high-lumen applications from indoor and outdoor to portable and lamp retrofits, the XP-G3 LEDs deliver the benefits of the Cree XP-G platform — a compact, 3.45 × 3.45mm package and established ecosystem — enabling de...
