SCR thyristor has 150°C junction temperature in D-PAK packaging
Littelfuse has introduced a series of high-temperature SCR (silicon-controlled rectifier) thyristors, the first circuit protection devices of their kind to offer a junction temperature of 150°C in compact surface-mount D-PAK (TO-252) packaging. These devices are also available in through-hole V-PAK (TO-251) packages. Standard SJ Series SCR Thyristors have a low gate current trigger level of 6mA or 15mA maximum at approximately 1.5V.
Supercapacitor suits space-constrained applications
The DMH Series supercapacitor from Murata is in stock at Mouser Electronics . Featuring an ultra-thin profile of just 0.4mm, the DMH series supercapacitor is designed for peak power assist in wearables, medical patches, e-paper devices, smart cards, and other space-constrained mobile devices.
Hybrid supercapacitors encourage 'energy snacking'
Hybrid supercapacitors from PBC Tech are thin, lightweight and have a fast recharge capability to charge devices in minutes rather than hours. The company (formerly called the Paper Battery Company) calls this rapid recharging energy snacking.
Wet tantalum capacitors boast ultra-high capacitance range
High-energy EP1 series wet tantalum capacitors from Vishay are now in stock in Europe at TTI. Built on Vishay’s proven SuperTan technology, the products feature an ultra high capacitance range from 2,000µF to 30,00 µF and voltage ratings from 25VDC to 125VDC in the A case code.
Railway DC/DC converters feature ultra wide input range
When planning a universally applicable railway device typically at least three versions of the same design are necessary to cover all standard supply voltages in railway vehicles ranging from a nominal 24-110VDC. This causes additional complications, which can be avoided by using RECOM’s newly developed DC/DC railway converters with ultra-wide input voltage, which allow for all-in-one solutions.
Synchronous step-down switching regulator offers 94% efficiency
A dual 4A, 42V input synchronous step-down switching regulator has been announced byAnalog Devices, which recently acquired Linear Technology. The LT8650S'sSilent Switcher2 architecture uses four internal input capacitors as well as two internal BST and a single INTVCC capacitor to minimise the area of the hot loops. Combined with well controlled switching edges and an internal construction using copper pillars in lieu of bond wires and an integr...
Quad power supply sequencers drive PoL regulators are radiation-hardened
The ISL70321SEH and ISL73321SEH quad power supply sequencers from Intersil are radiation-hardened to drive PoL regulators in FPGAs and multi-rail power systems.
DC/DC modules simplify power design
Enabling designers to save board space, bill of materials, and development time RS Components has released the latest Würth Elektronik MagI3C highly-integrated DC/DC converter modules. By integrating the switching regulator, control circuitry and inductor in the same package, the modules require minimal external components.
51V module boasts advanced vibration technology
The BMOD0189P051B2A 51V module is based on Maxwell Technology’s 48V module platform and includes the benefits of DuraBlue Advanced Shock and Vibration Technology. This combines Maxwell’s patented dry electrode formulation and manufacturing process with a robust proprietary cell structure, resulting in a cell that meets or exceeds some of the most demanding shock and vibration requirements of transportation markets.
The key to electric vehicle powertrain optimisation
Professor Omar Hegazy, Head of Power Electronics and Electrical Machines at the MOBI Research Centre, University of Brussels (VUB), recently highlighted his team’s EV powertrain optimisation techniques at CWIEME Istanbul 2017.
