Comms & computers drive IC sales across all regions
Communication and computer systems are forecast to be two of the three largest system applications for IC sales in every global region (Americas, Europe, Japan and Asia-Pacific) this year, according to data presented in the upcoming update to the 2016 edition of IC Insights’ IC Market Drivers, A Study of Emerging and Major End-Use Applications Fueling Demand for Integrated Circuits.
Evaluation kit eases path into digital power control
Worldwide availability of the new XMC Digital Power Explorer Kit from Infineon has been announced by RS Components. The kit was created for analogue power supply designers and embedded software programmers to help accelerate their learning in the capabilities of digital power control. The kit is also very useful for digital engineers to gather a better understanding of PMBusTM technologies for the digital control of power supplies.
ThinkPad notebooks to be equipped with OPTIGA TPM chips
Infineon Technologies will beequipping the lastest Lenovo ThinkPad ntoebooks with OPTIGA TPM (Trusted Platform Module) chips. The PC manufacturer thus responds to an increase of networking and associated security risks. In recent years, Lenovo has sold more than 100m notebooks from the successful ThinkPad family.
Free visualisation tool for microcontroller customers
The µC/Probe data visualisation tool from Micrium has been licensed to Infineon Technologies for customers of its XMC family of microcontrollers based on ARM Cortex-M cores. The µC/Probe will be shipped at no cost for customers.
Forum puts nanotechnology in the hot seat
Brussels will host the annual Imec Technology Forum (ITF) on 24th-25th May 2016 at SQUARE, Brussels Meeting Centre. ITF Brussels is the flagship of Imec’s series of technology forums that brings experts and visionaries together to discuss the future of technology and tech-innovation to market.
Reducing time to market with complex drivers
Hitex has created a set of specialised complex drivers for Infineon AURIX that can be used in addition to Infineon’s MC-ISAR low level drivers based on the AUTOSAR MCAL layer or with any other SW architecture.
Reducing power and simplifying design
A new integrated power stage family from Infineon Technologies features a power efficiency rating reaching 96%. This means the power stage devices can be combined with Infineon’s generation digital PWM power management controllers. This provides a full multi-phase voltage regulation (VR) system solution for server, storage client and communications systems.
Plug-and-play NFC security module suits smart wearables
Infineon Technologies, in collaboration with Beijing-based Mobile Payment Solutions, has released a unique, plug-and-play NFC security module series which significantly reduces design efforts for device manufacturers by bundling a high-end Infineon security chip with NFC antenna components and software on a small PCB footprint. The smallest module of the series measures just 4x4mm.
3D magnetic sensor provides 12-bit data resolution
The TLV493D-A1B6 3D magnetic sensor from Infineon Technologies is now being shipped by Mouser Electronics. The magnetic sensor offers accurate three dimensional sensing plus integrated temperature sensing with low power consumption. Within its small six-pin package, the sensor provides direct measurement of the x, y, and z magnetic axes, making it well suited for measuring 3D movement, linear travel, and 360-degree angle rotation.
Digital PoL regulators enable FPGA development platform
Infineon Technologies has announced that its digital PoL DC/DC regulators with full PMBus capabilities are featured in the Kintex UltraScale development board. A key driver for the design flexibility of the board is the superior PMBus connectivity of the company's IR3806x family. Configurations can be stored in internal memory and PMBus commands allow run-time control, fault status and telemetry.
