Autonomous vehicles with most advanced safety processor yet
Real-time processor with advanced safety features for autonomous vehicles and medical and industrial robots has been launched by ARM.The ARMCortex-R52 was designed to address functional safety in systems that must comply with ISO 26262 ASIL D and IEC 61508 SIL 3, the most stringent safety standards in the automotive and industrial markets.
Renesas acquires Intersil
Renesas Electronics announced an agreement to acquire Intersil for US$3.22 billion. This follows July's announcement that Analog Devices (ADI) will acquire Linear Technology Corp. (LTC) for $14.8 billion. These deals will cause a shakeup in the analog IC market. According to IC Insights ranking of analog IC suppliers for 2015,ADI was number four, LTC was number eight and Renesas was number ten.
Photovoltaic cell-based sun roof rolls out at electronica
An Innovation Center will be at the heart of Rutronik’s stand at the electronica 2016 show in Munich (November 8-11). RUTRONIK AUTOMOTIVE will be presenting specific components from selected manufacturers, as well as providing contact personnel for global technical and commercial support in all automotive applications.
High voltage converters meet energy saving standards
The VIPer01 high-voltage converters from STMicroelectronics (ST) are in stock at Mouser Electronics. Part of the VIPerPlus family of high-voltage converters based on ST’s Bipolar-CMOS-DMOS (BCD) technology, the VIPer01 devices are offline, high-voltage AC/DC converters that integrate an 800V avalanche-rugged MOSFET with pulse-width modulation (PWM) current-mode control and multiple protection circuits.
Industrial semiconductor market to grow to $61bn in 2021
According to the latest analysis by Semicast Research, revenues for industrial semiconductors are forecast to grow to $61.5bn in 2021, from $40.7bn in 2015, a CAGR of 7%.Semicast has covered the market for industrial semiconductors since 2006 and views the sector as a series of markets within a market, each with its own trends and suppliers. This arguably makes it the most complex sector for semiconductor vendors to understand and support.
LION board extends IoT development support
Support for developers of Internet of Things (IoT) products has been extended by Arrow Electronics with the introduction of the SmartEverything LION board. The LION board supports a range of functions required in an IoT sensing node and enables simple, low power connection to the Cloud via the LoRa protocol.
