Power supplies deliver 1300W from a 108-264VAC input

Delivering 1300W from a 108-264VAC universal input, the D1U3CS series of front-end AC/DC power supplies has been released by Murata. The power supplies are hot pluggable and have no minimum load requirement. For fault-tolerant and N+1 redundant applications, the devices incorporate low-loss integral ORing FETs on the main 12V output.

A high typical conversion efficiency of 92% at half full load can be achieved by the power supplies, which have a power density of 23W per cubic inch. Alongside a primary 12VDC output, the D1U3CS-W-1300F-12-HC4EC has an auxiliary output of 3.3VDC, while the D1U3CS-W-1300F-12-HA4EC has an output of 5.0VDC. The D1U3CS series is suitable for systems using distributed power architectures, such as computing, storage, networking, data centre and test and measurement systems.

To minimise input harmonic current distortion, active PFC is used. This typically provides a power factor of 0.99, ensuring the power supplies comply with the IEC61000-3-2 standard. The IEC C14 AC input power connector is also accepted by the devices. The power supplies, which support the industry-standard PMBus communications protocol, are digitally programmable and equipped with an I2C interface. An EEPROM memory device which is pre-programmed with data about the unit is also contained within the power supplies.

For very high current applications, multiple supplies can be paralleled through active single-wire current sharing. Operating from -10 to +50ºC, the supplies incorporate fan cooling with automatic speed control.

The devices, which deliver a MTBF of more than 500,000 hours, are protected against overload and overvoltage conditions. CE Mark, CSA and TUV certified, the power supplies meet EN55022-B and FCC part 15 Class B conducted and radiated emissions standards.
