Expanded lineup of micro DC-DC converters

Murata Manufacturing Co. Ltd. has developed two new series of micro DC-DC converters (LXDC55F series and LXDC55K series) and launched their mass production. As electronic devices incorporate more functionality, it has become necessary to convert voltages and supply power individually for each functional circuit.
Until now, the required discrete components have been mounted on the circuit boards. To meet market demands for a smaller footprint, lower EMI noise, and higher energy-saving, Murata applied the company's proprietary circuit design and multi-layer process technologies to develop the first micro DC-DC converters and introduced them to the market in October 2010.

This time, we have added two new series to our present lineup. Of these, the LXDC55F series can handle up to 14V input voltage and the LXDC55K series can handle a large current of up to 3 A. Murata now offers a total of seven series in micro DC-DC converters. Murata will continue to develop products that are ultra-compact and achieve low EMI noise, so that they can be used to optimize circuit designs surrounding power supplies.

-Handles up to 14V input voltage (LXDC55F series)
Previous micro DC-DC converters, which handle up to 5.5V input voltage, have been developed on the assumption that they will be used for mobile devices such as smart phones. The input voltage range of the new LXDC55F series has been increased to 14V so that it can be used for a communications infrastructure that requires an input voltage of about 12V.

Previous micro DC-DC converters have a fixed output voltage. By contrast, the LXDC55F and LXDC55K series allow any output voltage to be set by simply changing the chip resistance value.
