AVX extends capacitance and voltage ratings for X7R MLCCs
In order to provide a much broader product offering with several new high volumetric efficiency options, AVX has extended the capacitance range and voltage ratings for its X7R MLCCs. Available in sizes of 01005-2225, the MLCCs exhibit high K and low ESR and are now available with capacitance values spanning 100pF to 47µF and standard voltage ratings of 4-500V.
High voltage X7R MLCCs with ratings up to 5000V are also available, as are automotive and alternate termination options. Suitable applications for X7R MLCCs include decoupling and filtering in mobile, medical, and digital applications, such as: cell phones, tablets, high speed processors/FPGAs, and implantable medical devices, in which high volumetric efficiency is especially critical. The series is also particularly well suited for use as snubbers, resonators, filters, or DC blocking caps in automotive, medical, industrial, and commercial electronics, including: displays, high voltage multipliers, high frequency power converters, and SMPS.
Exhibiting a non-linear TCC within ±15% from -55 to +125°C, AVX’s X7R MLCCs are suited for use in a broad spectrum of industrial applications in which known capacitance changes in response to applied voltage are acceptable and are available in nine standard voltages (4, 6.3, 10, 16, 25, 50, 100, 200 and 500V), three capacitance tolerances (±5, ±10 and ± 20%), and three terminations: plated Ni/Sn, plated gold, and Flexiterm. The latter of these enables significantly enhanced mechanical reliability by allowing more than twice as much board flexure as standard terminations. The devices can be packaged on 7 or 13” reels or shipped in bulk with standard lead times and are RoHS compliant.
“The extended capacitance range and new voltage ratings add even greater value to our line of X7R MLCCs, which are already available in a wide range of case sizes and with several tolerance and termination options, by allowing engineers to customise nearly every aspect of the devices to suit their design specifications,” commented Mark Obuszewski, Business Manager, AVX.
