Suited for use as across-the-line capacitors, EMI filters and spark-killer circuits in power and RF applications, AVX has announced a series of AC film capacitors. The FV series metallised polypropylene film capacitors feature self-healing properties, high moisture resistance, high tolerance for over voltage stress and excellent active and passive flame resistant capabilities.

Rated for 305V_rms,the capacitors are designed to provide Class X2 interference suppression over a temperature range from -40 to +110°C. The devices are available in 36 case sizes (each with two leads measuring either 3.5 or 22mm in length) with tolerances of ±10 or ±20%, frequencies of 50 or 60Hz and capacitance values from 0.01 to 10µF.

The FV series devices exhibit excellent insulation resistance, high dielectric strength (1,312VDC for up to 60 seconds or 2,000VDC for up to 2 seconds), and long lifetimes of up to 100,000 hours at rated voltage and 70°C.

Encapsulated in a solvent and flame-resistant, self-extinguishing thermoplastic case sealed with epoxy resin, the FV series capacitors include internationally-recognised safety approvals, including: UL/cUL, ENEC-VDE, KC and CQC. Halogen-free options are available upon request.
