  Littelfuse has introduced the first encapsulated surface mount fuse designed for intrinsic safety protection of equipment intended for use in or near hazardous locations and explosive atmospheres and certified to the UL 913 Standard.

Supplier of electronic components, KEMET, has introduced what it claims to be the industry’s first COTS grade polymer electrolytic capacitor with a 1,000-hour life test option. The new option, also known as the 'Biased Humidity Test', provides capacitors qualified at 85°C with 85% relative humidity at rated voltage applied for 1,000 hours. The test type provides capacitors qualified to the rigors of MIL-STD-202 Method 103. 

The RHS series of lead type multilayer ceramic capacitors from Murata for automobile use at maximum usage temperature of 200°C is now in stock in Europe at TTI. The products have been developed for use in equipment located in severe temperature environments such as the engine compartment of an automobile.

A new circuit protection thermistor has been announced by Ametherm that offers what it claims to be the industry's smallest diameter for a UL-approved device with a maximum continuous current rating of 6.0A and energy rating of 40J. Previously, designers had to rely on devices with larger diameters from 15-25mm to achieve the high current and energy ratings of the new SL12 10006.

  The new CFWS-series of fusible power wirewound resistors is now available from KOA. In normal operation the CFWS series resistor acts as an inrush current control resistor but will safely fuse in specified power overload cases. The CFWS series is available with 3 or 5W power ratings. Both power ratings are approved to UL1412.
