Aluminium housed wirewound resistors offer high power
Manufacturer of resistive components, Stackpole Electronics, has announced its KAL series. A wirewound resistor technology utilising a large ceramic core moulded into an aluminium housing to facilitate heat transfer. The relatively small size to power ratio allows the KAL series to be used in conjunction with an external heat sink or other metal structure to aid in heat removal.
Varistors feature increased permissible operating temperature
TDK has presented leaded EPCOS metal oxide disk varistors, which have now been approved for an increased operating temperature of 105°C (previously 85°C). The reason for this is the recertification of the B722* series of varistors in accordance with UL 1449, 4th Edition, and IEC 61051.
RF MLCCs offer 200°C operating temp in small cases
Surface-mount multilayer ceramic chip capacitors (MLCCs) for high frequency RF and microwave applications claimed to be the first to offer an operating temperature range to +200 °C have been launched by Vishay Intertechnology. For telecom base stations and military communication systems, the Vishay Vitramon VJ HIFREQ HT series provides ultra-high Q and low ESR in four compact case sizes.
16-pin, 24-Pin versions added to resistor series
The OSOP series of surface-mount dual in-line thin film resistor networks in the 25 mil pitch QSOP package has been extended by Vishay Intertechnology with new 16-pin and 24-pin versions in accordance with JEDEC MO-137, variation AB and AE. Available in isolated, last pin common, and custom schematics, the Vishay Dale Thin Film networks feature tight ratio tolerances to ± 0.025 % and low TCR tracking of ± 5 ppm/°C to deliver hig...
Ceramic chip inductors provide high Q factor
Global supplier of magnetic components, Coilcraft, has released a new series ceramic wirewound chip inductors. The 0805HP series offers what the company claims to be the industry’s highest Q factors in an 0805 size at frequencies up to 3GHz. It is available with 23 inductance values ranging from 2.6-820nH, with two percent tolerance available for most values. The 0805HP series features a wirewound construction for self resona...
TVS arrays guard against ESD strikes in high-speed interfaces
ProTek Devices has introduced two new steering diode / transient voltage suppressor arrays (TVS array) designed for electrostatic discharge (ESD) circuit protection in various popular high-speed interfaces. Such interfaces include USB, DVI and HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet, IEEE 1394 FireWire, and SATA and PCIe. The first new combo steering diode TVS array is the PLR0502-6, which has an ultra-low capacitance of 0.7pF typical (max I/O to I/O).
High voltage ceramic capacitor with no capacitance change
Global supplier of electronic components, KEMET, has announced the expansion of its surface mount High Voltage Multilayer Ceramic Capacitor portfolio with the addition of the EIA 0603 case size (1608 metric) with C0G temperature characteristics. These devices are the smallest of their kind and offer designers the ability to continue miniaturising trends within their designs while still maintaining operating voltages up to 1,000VDC.
Varistors provide bi-directional overvoltage protection
Manufacturer and supplier of advanced passive components and interconnect solutions, AVX, has released the new Antenna PowerGuard Series varistors, an ultralow capacitance extension of its reliable AntennaGuard range with new voltage, capacitance, and energy ratings. Antenna PowerGuard Series varistors exhibit highcurrent and energy handling capabilities, low insertion loss, low leakage current, and unsurpassed reliability compared to diode optio...
Battery shunt resistor's sense pins aid PCB mounting
A 36W Power Metal Strip battery shunt resistor featuring three sense pins in the 8518 case size has been released by Vishay Intertechnology. With extremely low resistance values down to 50µΩ, the Vishay Dale WSBS8518...40 increases accuracy and lowers costs compared with Hall Effect current sensing solutions.
